In the past I've jokingly said that "the best mortgage companies just don't suck." What I should probably start saying is "great mortgage companies are like a good ref in a football game. You don't notice them." 🎢 There are two heroes of the home buying experience...the home buyer and the agent. They are the protagonists going through all the emotional ups and downs of finding a perfect home, negotiating the offer, managing inspections, coordinating moving trucks and setting lives in motion. 🧭 The mortgage company’s role is to provide clarity and guidance through the financial details. After years of sitting through customer surveys, interviews and journey map exercises I don't believe home buyers are looking for an "amazing" mortgage experience. That's the nuance most lenders or new entrants get wrong; trying to be noticeable when in actuality they should just be in the background providing great communication, knowing all the details of the rules/guidelines and keeping the game moving (like a great ref). 🏈 To stay with the football analogy...it comes down to great blocking and tackling, knowing your playbook and having great technique.
