These proposals, if implimented, will have a major impact to building sectors not currently covered by the Commercial Building Disclosure program. Mandatory Disclosure is being considered for Shopping Centres, Data Centres & Hotels, with other sectors such as Warehouses & Cold Stores, Retail Stores and others being captured by the program in the near future. The reduction of the 1,000m2 NLA threshold for commercial office buildings is also in the spotlight. Australian Building Owners, Property & Facility Managers would be wise to read and comment on these proposals to understand the potential implications and to start thinking about how the properties under their control would be affected.

Countries in the European Union need to roll out an updated law to bring their buildings in line with the bloc’s net zero emissions target. But EUnations have a mixed record when it comes to implementing renovation. In Wednesday’s episode of The Jolt, Kira Taylor looks at how to roll out a law to renovate Europe’s leaky buildings.
