Las Vegas wants more of that sweet F1 dough. Here’s the economic value one race brought to the city. 1. The race created more than 7,000 jobs for locals who earned more than $50 million in wages. 2. F1 tourists spent 3.6x more than the usual Vegas tourist, spending more $800 million during the F1 weekend. 3. F1 themselves spent more than $80 million on improving public infrastructure in the city. 4. The event generated $77 million in tax revenue, which is more than any other event in the city’s history. With a total economic impact of $1.5 billion, it was the largest sporting event in Las Vegas history.

Here are the highlights the economic impact on Las Vegas for hosting the 2023 Formula 1 race. • The total economic impact has been measured at $1.5 billion, including visitor spending of $884 million. • The race generated $77 million in tax revenue — more than any other event in Las Vegas history. • F1 spent $88 million on public infrastructure improvements (not including land acquisition, etc.). • Race visitors spent 3.6x more than the typical Las Vegas traveller, staying 4.1 nights and spending over $4,100 on average. • Local workers earned $52 million in wages • The event created 7,300 jobs, including 2,200 for race-related construction projects and 5,100 for event operations. • The Las Vegas Airport was the second busiest airport in the country the day after the race, with 2,200 operations. Clark County says it was the largest sporting event, with the largest global audience, in Las Vegas history. Safe to say F1 will be back in Las Vegas for the foreseeable future!

Skills sets in sports traditionally centred on physical, observable parameters like skill level etc. This evolved to include tangible metrics of ‘form’ e.g. player stats that detail how well a player may have done over a particular period. “The thing we have analysed more than anything else when we’ve been picking England squads is the psychological… can these guys perform under that pressure to the best possible level? And if not, can we help them to do that?” Gareth Southgate details how psychological skills now form one pillar upon which player selection for the England squad is based. He details skills like recovery from mistakes, performance under pressure and sustained attention as key attributes of the elite player. “In the end that makes the difference between the very, very good and the elite” These skills fall into the broad category of ‘executive functions’. Like any other metric, they can measured and - more than that - trained and improved. We no longer have to view psychological skills as static and innate. They develop, evolve and can grow over time. Like the early adopters of any new evidence and technology, those players, coaches and teams who embrace this growing body of scientific evidence will see the benefits before the rest. "The thing we have analysed more than anything when picking England squads has been the psychological..." Gareth Southgate named his provisional 33-man England squad yesterday, and he made some big decisions. Are you curious about his thought process? Check out the interview below where he very openly talks about selecting players and offers us an insight into how he deals with making mistakes. A very wise man whom I had the pleasure of spending time with. Who would you have on the plane to Germany? ✈️⚽️

This is one of many things that a new Labour government will need to deal with quickly, it may not be top of the list like the issues with the NHS, the education system, the criminal justice system, and the transport network (among others), but it is something that is of vital importance for maintaining social cohesion throughout the country. The new Independent Football Regulator MUST be properly independent of government, and the fundamental flaw at s37(2) of the Football Governance Bill must be removed in its entirety, and a prohibition on sovereign wealth funds and nation states owning clubs must be introduced in its place. The regulator must be a regulator for ALL clubs throughout the professional club, and not one that represents only the interests of those at the top, and help restore greater fairness, equity, and meritocracy to this great game of ours, because it is ours after all...

Incredible insights from Gareth Southgate and a stark reminder of how important it is to equip founders, entrepreneurs, professionals and athletes with the right tools to manage their psychology in high-performance environments. Key takeaways: - Mentality is everything - Drive matters - A constant desire to get better is essential - The ability to deal with mistakes or when things go wrong is vital - Knowing how to deal with success is just as important - Understanding ways to handle pressure is necessary As a founder, team leader or employee, can you perform at the highest level, day in and day out? Through lots of unknown variables? Through pressure? Through the opinions of naysayers and non-believers? Through consecutive bad quarters? Through failure? Through pessimistic macro environments? Through big changes? As the future of work continues to transform, as teams become more and more distributed, and as companies understand that the only thing that matters is how competent and kind their people are (not where they live or what their salary expectations are), high-performance will become a core value that companies seek, develop, mould and enable. High performance will apply to everyone. Thanks for sharing Steven Caulker 👌🏻 #embraceyourprocess

https://lnkd.in/g4r9RrkZ Seriously? Less disruption? How much "less" should business owners have to accept to make F1 tons of money? I day ZERO OR COMPENSATE THEM! The minute that construction begins, employees, and tourists will avoid that intersection. It's human nature!! They have memories of last years mess. This is a PUBLIC ROAD. By definition each adjacent business has a right to uninterrupted ingress and egress UNLESS it's a public works project. This is a PRIVATE COMPANY interrupting access and traffic. Not Fair. F1 days FU to our community AGAIN!

It appears my comment was deleted twice from the below post - so thought I'd share it here. Venue owners should listen as well as amplify; that's how we improve, take stock and evolve. The comment: The gig was great - no doubt. Foo's rocked! 🤘🎆 But there was a severe lack of operational efficiency at the gig venue. Examples: The bars were the worst I've experienced - no hyperbole. This is 2024, but multiple 40+ people queues across the stadium, concourses and on the pitch/standing area with dithering staff and stock issues. Then, the grim sight of single-use plastic cups covering the stadium floor (and I'm sure, the stadia seats) - fans kicking through rivers of clear plastic cups to get to exit points. Again, this is 2024 and there are many other sustainable options. Then the misery and danger of trying to get back to Stratford station from the stadium. If you missed the end of the gig, you might have stood a chance. If you stayed to the end like we did, it was a 2-hour kettling-session with little security and no policing. Appalling and at many times dangerous. I appreciate the hubris Graham Gilmore, but your team would benefit from an overhaul in operational efficiency. In almost 25 years of producing global events this was one of the worst operations I've witnessed as a fan. I'd be v happy to talk about solutions or strategic tactics over a cuppa if you do plan for London Stadium to hit London 2012 heights again, and be heralded for operational excellence as a viable international venue on the global circuit. Because again, Foo Fighters will have loved the atmosphere and the ticket sales - but every fan will feel let down by the venue. Sean Egan Candice Egan Amy Moqbel
The Worlds Stage rocked again . London Stadium we showed the world why we are simply the best at what we do. Foo Fighters have to be the best rock band in the world . Incredible 2 nights with 3 hour set both nights … Stratford rocked last week .

Some will say they shouldn’t have even got this far. Others will say they came agonisingly close. Both are probably correct. Whatever your view, I feel Gareth Southgate pulled off a masterstroke – against all the odds - again. It can be similar in business - no one seems to be satisfied. Everyone is criticising you. If you run your own business you have to do what you feel is right. Clearly you can be answerable to a board, to shareholders, but if you’re the CEO, you need to make the difficult decisions – and not be too concerned with the FLACK others will throw at you. You need to have a thick skin. To paint Southgate as a failure after four tournaments of outstanding success, is a tad unfair. But as in business, football can be unfair. Southgate is unlikely to be given the credit he deserves. And as a business leader, expecting credit for your actions can be a thankless task. www.johnstapleton.eu
