How will AI change what we know and understand about the world? This was the question our Founder and Chairman David Siegel was charged with when he was invited to speak at the celebration for Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI)'s five-year anniversary. With thought leaders and experts tackling some of the most pressing issues in the age of AI, the day explored how we can ensure AI technology is developed with humans at the center. Watch David's discussion with Professor Fei-Fei Li, where they delve into topics such as reasoning versus prediction, the long-term impact of AI on scientific research and departmental structures, and the interdisciplinary nature of AI. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/d5u9fY6y

Out of 8 billion people in the world hardly one billion has access to advanced healthcare and education. If AI is used ethically it is possible to provide reasonable healthcare, education and good quality of life to atleast 3-4 billion people over next 30 years or so. The big issue is will AI be used by a selected few to amass obscene wealth and power or it will be used for real benefit to humanity. #artificialintelligence #ai #macroeconomics #deepmind #google #research #future

My recent conversations with AI healthcare startups have been incredibly inspiring. The potential for AI to solve complex problems and accelerate progress in healthcare is truly remarkable. Even starting with simple applications, AI can unlock tremendous value and pave the way for a better future. Technology, when harnessed effectively, has the power to transform healthcare and improve lives.

For those interested in how AI is shaping or influencing the Scientific fields, here is a good article from Google DeepMind where their team explores opportunity areas, risks, and policy suggestions. The aim is to help get a better understanding of how AI could become the next "Scientific Instrument". A couple of ideas we found particularly interesting were the need for more interdisciplinarity (vs multidisciplinarity) and the concern that AI models are trained to minimize anomalies in their training data, whereas scientists often amplify anomalies by following their intuitions about a perplexing data point, potentially impacting creativity in the scientific space. Let us know what you think! #startupsinscience #scienceandai #scientificresearch

Are you worried about the safety of AI? Fear not, our researchers are working on it. Actually, they’re paving the way. Thibault Simonetto recently won recognition for his groundbreaking PhD work that addressed one of AI's biggest challenges: How do we make sure AI isn’t just intelligent but also secure? This was the driving question behind a recent paper from SnT that earned the prestigious spotlight at the NeurIPS conference, one of the highest honors in the AI research community. But we’re not keeping our know-how locked behind academic doors. A partnership with BGL BNP Paribas actually helped bring this research to life, showcasing the practical, real-world impact of such groundbreaking research. Big congratulations to the authors, Maxime Cordy, Thibault Simonetto, and Salah GHAMIZI, for their hard work and dedication! Want to know more about how SnT is making AI safer and more reliable?
