Ok Monday let’s do this ♥️ Exercise for many is an effort, not something they look forward to doing & certainly not inspiring. So I challenge you to look at movement & moving from a different perspective. What if you could find something we loved to do instead of feeling compelled to do. 🌟 Maybe you’ve always wanted to learn samba, join a walking group. Learn tai chi. A gym is not the be all and end all, your mind will benefit as much as your body from learning a new skill. 🌟 Doing something with others helps with motivation, friends or group activities, you can encourage and lift each other when you are not feeling inspired. 🌟 Find a teacher that actually teaches not just instructs. Teachers who love their subject embody it & thats contagious. 🌟 Accept that you don’t have to be the best, acquiring new skills takes time, patience and repetition. To see any changes you must stay consistent, frustration will happen. Practice more, give up less. So find what you love and do it often. Do what you need, not what you like. Most of us tend to gravitate to what comes naturally or what we’re particularly good at. When I give someone an exercise they don’t especially enjoy, it’s usually met with a grown or a long face. But behind the sound/expression is the realisation they don’t excel at it. And, because of that, they don’t want to look bad or struggle. What I’ve learned, though, is that you’re only as strong as your weakest link. Ignoring your weaknesses is a limiting factor to progress. What I have observed is that many of us do the opposite of what’s required: someone who works in a demanding and intense job, say, is attracted to the high-adrenaline workouts when what they probably would benefit from most is yoga; those who are supple and bendy choose yoga when what they could use is strength and stability training. Make time for those exercises/movements you despise and neglect, because they will transform you the most once you get over the hump. Can’t fit in an hour-long yoga class? No problem! Instead of calling off exercise for the day, try introducing little 2 minute spurts of exercises like squatting, planking, jumping jacks, and boat pose holds throughout the day.For example, you might set a timer on your phone to go off every hour, and spend 5 minutes focusing on one of these exercises.
