EXTENDING GOD'S GLORY IN THE SAHEL REGION In a thought-provoking article on the Lausanne movement website, Patrick Johnstone raises a crucial question: "The Sahel: What Does the Future Hold?" For those attuned to African affairs, it's evident that the Sahel stands as one of the most daunting terrains for global missions today. Demographic shifts, climate fluctuations, population explosions, conflicts, refugee crises, Christian persecution, and a scarcity of essential resources present formidable obstacles. Yet, despite these challenges, we hold firm to the belief that our Sovereign can surpass all expectations, bringing glory to His name even in the Sahel. Johnstone identifies the Sudan/Sahel region of Africa as a significant battleground for missions due to its diverse languages, nations, and numerous unreached people groups. Here, he stresses the necessity for innovative approaches, fresh mobilization strategies, and enhanced support systems to fulfill Jesus' Great Commission effectively. In response to this call, Declare Global is committed to proclaiming the gospel to the unreached peoples of the Sahel in a culturally sensitive manner. We aim to equip local believers and empower communities through strategic engagement, training initiatives, and the creation of contextually relevant audiovisual materials. Envisioning a future where every Sahelian nation bows before the Lamb, we anticipate the day when the knowledge of God's glory blankets the Sahel like the waters of the sea. We invite you to join us in prayer, seeking continued transformation through the resources tailored for the Fulas and the Mandinkas. These resources are accessible through our website at https://lnkd.in/dHRngRUF In embracing this vision, we align ourselves with Ephesians 3:20, trusting in the limitless power of our King to accomplish far beyond what we can imagine, ultimately bringing honor to His name across the vast expanse of the Sahel. One of the things I really love about early music is the problem solving challenges of trying to understand how they performed on their instruments with often very little documentation, sometimes only ancient paintings. We know the medieval lute was plucked with a plectrum and the renaissance lute was plucked with the fingers. Before dropping the plectrum, they likely developed a hybrid technique to be able to play more than one string that had a gap between them and so couldn't be just strummed. I'm starting to learn that technique now and here is the result. https://lnkd.in/gWkHsC7X

So much to learn from this production and performance. From the music perspective: Masterful singing and artistry - an eye gaze, a dissonant transition, a pause, then the melodic scream of humankind. The simplicity of this setting, only capable by production mastery. Great job Greenpeace https://lnkd.in/eCHhy_V9

_____"There is no way to peace, peace is the way." - (Nelson Mandela)_____ ___In a world plagued by uncertainties, in the shadow of challenging times, we must reaffirm our commitment to peace. We can no longer afford to drift in this hopeless tide, nor succumb to the temptation of discord. It is time to awaken clarity in our hearts and uphold the profound meaning of human life. Peace is not merely the absence of conflict but an harmony that permeates every aspect of our existence. It is the ability to embrace differences, to celebrate diversity, and to build bridges instead of walls. It is a daily commitment to mutual understanding, tolerance, and cooperation. In this period of challenges and tribulations, it is crucial to reaffirm our dedication to peace. We must look beyond divisions and differences, and work together towards a better future for all. Each of us has a role to play in constructing a fairer and more peaceful world. May this call for peace resonate loudly in every corner of the globe, inspiring concrete and transformative actions. May we find the strength and determination needed to face the challenges ahead, united in our common quest for a more peaceful and prosperous world for future generations. Get Up, Don’t give up your Rigths… The process of decolonization and the granting of independence to former colonies by the United Kingdom is a complex historical phenomenon. Let's explore some key points related to this topic: Colonial History and Independence: ○ The United Kingdom (UK) had a vast colonial empire that included territories across the globe. Many of these territories were ruled or administered by the UK, and their histories are intertwined with British colonialism. ○ Over time, various factors led to movements for independence in these colonies. These factors included nationalist movements, anti-colonial struggles, economic changes, and shifts in global politics. Independence Days: ○ A total of 65 countries have claimed their independence from the British Empire or the United Kingdom, making it the highest number of countries gaining independence from a single colonial power in world history. ○ These countries gained their independence through various means, such as treaties, declarations, and constitutional changes. Some examples include: ■ India: India gained independence from British rule on August 15, 1947, following the Indian Independence Act of 1947. ■ Ghana: Formerly known as the Gold Coast, Ghana achieved independence on March 6, 1957. ■ Jamaica: Jamaica became independent on August 6, 1962. ■ Kenya: Kenya gained independence on December 12, 1963. ■ Malawi: Formerly known as Nyasaland, Malawi became independent on July 6, 1964. ■ Cyprus: Cyprus gained independence on August 16, 1960. ■ Fiji: Fiji became independent on October 10, 1970. ■ Barbados: Barbados achieved independence on November 30, 1966. ■ Botswana: Botswana (formerly Bechuanaland) gained independence on September 30, 1966. ■ Nauru: Nauru declared independence from the UK, Australia, and New Zealand on January 31, 1968. The Commonwealth of Nations: ○ The Commonwealth of Nations (often referred to as the Commonwealth) is an international organization of countries that were formerly part of the British Empire. ○ The modern Commonwealth was formally constituted by the London Declaration in 1949. This declaration allowed countries like India, Pakistan, and Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) to join as "free and equal members" without swearing allegiance to the crown. ○ Today, the Commonwealth includes both republics and constitutional monarchies, with the British monarch as its symbolic head. Crown and Commonwealth Realms: ○ The Balfour Declaration of 1926 recognized the evolution of the Dominions (self-governing countries within the British Empire) into separate, self-governing entities within the Commonwealth of Nations. Seven independent nations (the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon) continued to share the Crown, forming the Commonwealth realms. Leaving us like a dirty clothes with no repercussions to them… https://lnkd.in/gcnpz2YM

https://lnkd.in/dhs39cHS https://lnkd.in/e5_6VtWR Available now on bandcamp Album Title Post-Orientalism Music Anthology Vol. 2: No To War by Various Artists === Emad Khankeshipour- The March of Existence Composer and Performance by Emad Khankeshipour Hushang Irani - Poet and Cover Painting Emad Khankeshipour === https://lnkd.in/e2ch33AZ You can pre-order the full version in HD sound quality on the Bandcamp platform. === Post-Orientalism Statement "All of us are born into a catastrophe. The world is nothing but an endless waiting for the end." (Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot) "No to War" is not a whimsical slogan for us. This phrase is a bell that shatters solid walls and rouses the deaf from their deep slumber. "No to War" will commence with RDKPL and will be expanded weekly until the end of 2024. This collection will feature great thinkers and artists, each offering their interpretation of this outcry. This "No to War" is neither beautiful nor pleasing; we will not present it in a delightful package. It is a harsh and bitter truth—a raw scream that rejects all forms of sweetness and lays bare a bitter reality. We seek to transform a meaningless silence into a clear voice, etching a note upon the crumbling walls of war that cannot be ignored. In this endeavor, we return to a fundamental question: Can one say "no" in a world where war reigns, and will this "no" find its true meaning within itself? "Resistance is about building something that endures, even when everything is falling apart." (Alain Badiou) Post-Orientalism Community Sunday, October 6, 2024 === #NoToWar #PostOrientalism

Check out this insightful article about the Gold Coast King who fought against the might of Europe's slave traders. Although a few years old, the story is still relevant and important, especially to those of us in The Bahamas. The article sheds light on the bravery and resilience of those who stood up against the horrific slave trade and the TRUE origins of our Junkanoo. Take a few minutes to read it and gain a deeper understanding of this important piece of history. #history #slavery #Bahamas #GoldCoastKing #resilience #junkanoo
