If reputation matters to you, then Character Counts for your team members as well as the organisation. As the cliché says, ‘it takes charisma to get you there, but it takes character to keep you there’. We can all recall a story of a dynamic leader that quickly rose to the top, blew up the business in a good way, and then blew up the business in all the wrong ways shortly after.
When placing our senior leadership, we spend a lot of time focusing on skills and experience, missional and values alignment, but we stop short of taking a serious look at the characteristics of our next hire. That is, what are their guiding principles and resulting actions that help them achieve their goals.
Why is this so important, simply put, values alignment of the staff and organisation will underpin the collective priorities. But Character alignment is critical for setting the ‘how’; the methodologies and activities used to achieve those priorities.
Hitting the organisational targets will build your credibility, doing it in a way that strengthens your reputation will create your longevity.
Join us at this year’s Christian Ministry Advancement conference as we present on ‘The value of Character’. Exploring how the individual and collective character of your team has a tangible effect on your bottom line, organisational efficiency, reputation, and innovation.

I’ve been fortunate to have some great ‘teachers’ The social care can thrive on this kind of collaboration and we should never be reticent to ask for help to grow and progress
