We don't have middle mangers at The Lab | Road Trip, and our C-Level is just two people. Our sales team is three. Our admin team is one. Our HR team is one. Everyone else is trying to set production records, all day, everyday. 47 people making prerolls. 3 people making sales. 4 people doing the rest. We don't have a marketing department. We don't have facility, shift, or general managers. We have strong SOPS. We have fair compensation. We have a team of hustlers. We have centralized our goals and decentralized decision making. We have a culture of pride and individual ownership. Yes, this is an experiment. No, I'm not 100% sure where it will go. Nevertheless, I am convinced that the right people, compensated fairly, can and will achieve goals and set records again and again if: A) company goals are public and their progress is tracked publicly, and B) determining the manner in which the goals are achieved is a shared endeavor amongst all staff.

Why do clients think it’s acceptable to move the goalpost a week before the start date?🤦♂️ I had received a phone call from an experienced Safety Manager asking for help as their employment offer had been changed a week before their start date 🚩. After waiting 4 weeks to start and turning down many offers. The trust in the company has gone out the window 🪟. It’s impacted them financially. Everyone’s time has been wasted ⏰. And now they are back to square one. Unfortunately this is not the only time I have heard of someone facing this problem in construction… Moving the goalpost at the 11th hour after an agreement has been made is not the way to run a company. Don’t be surprised if you can’t attract the best talent if that’s the way you treat employees even before they have started. #construction #contract
