Increasing investment in programs like Woodcraft Rangers for middle and high school youth is more important now than ever. A recent report published by the Partnership for Children and Youth found that while investment in expanded learning (afterschool and summer) programs for K-6 students have increased, as they should -- our teens are being left behind. Older youth deserve and require more enrichment, peer support, and academic and career guidance. Through evidence and examples, the report presents ways for policy and decision makers to work toward solutions, including increasing funds, better data and evaluations, and intentional partnerships between schools and community-based programs like Woodcraft Rangers. 🎉 Nixa received the rankings from US News on our junior high, intermediate, and elementary schools. We are excited that all of our schools placed in the top 20% in the state, and many are in the top 3%. 🦅 Nixa Junior High is the #5 middle school in the state of Missouri and was the second highest in the Springfield metro behind Central High School's magnet program. Mathews Elementary was the top elementary school in the Springfield metro area. 👏 These results continue to show how Nixa is one of the elite districts in the state of Missouri. For the last 125 years, students have attended Casarez, formerly known as Sheridan Elementary, suffering sweltering temperatures with no air-conditioning. But when students return Aug. 26, they’ll enter cooled classrooms, thanks to Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who pledged $200,000 this spring for the cooling projects at Casarez and nine other schools — Clara Barton, Castor Gardens Middle School, D. Newlin Fell, Thomas Finletter, Fitler Academics Plus, Benjamin Franklin/Science Leadership Academy, Edward Gideon, A.S. Jenks, and Theodore Roosevelt. Seven of the 10 schools had 199 air conditioners installed this summer; the projects at Castor Gardens and Roosevelt are expected to be completed by September. One project is still in the planning stages. Systemwide inequities in AC, still Systemwide, the Philadelphia School District still has 63 schools that lack adequate air-conditioning. As students, faculty, families, and the community gathered for their Black History Month program, the gym was alive with an unmistakable buzz of energy and excitement. This wasn't just another school event; it was a profound demonstration of how educational spaces can inspire and innovate. This evening inspired my latest article: We Can Ignite Public Education Through Innovation!   Key Highlights from the Article:   1. Community Engagement: The overwhelming support from the community highlighted the importance of involving everyone in our students' educational journey. 2.
