Professor Kim Yun: “I think the government will kneel when doctors go on strike.” Kim Yoon, a professor of medicine at Seoul National University, stated that the government will yield if doctors go on a strike, citing past successful experiences. He believes that strikes have been effective in thwarting government policies that are detrimental to doctors. W “Political ceasefire” Yes, “Yongsu summit” Yongsan “Meeting of the ruling and opposition parties”… Simultaneous eruption of cooperation theory On July 7th, a potential political truce emerged between the ruling People Power Party and the opposition Democratic Party of Korea due to growing public fatigue with legislative deadlock and an economic crisis. People Power Party leader Choo Kyung-ho proposed a political ceasefire and discussions on bills related to people's livelihoods for the upcoming extraordinary National Assembly session in August. The Democratic Party also called for a meeting with President Yoon Seok-yeol, emphasizing the need for cooperation amid bipartisan tension. Acknowledgment of economic pressures and the exhaustion of stalled legislative efforts were noted as catalysts for this newfound willingness to cooperate. Additionally, both party leaders expressed interest in discussing specific bills aimed at addressing urgent societal needs. However, underlying tensions remain, particularly concerning the Democratic Party's continued push for the Special Prosecutors' Act, which could complicate collaborative governance efforts.
