On May 6th join us for our latest groundbreaking Sister Cities Project (Eco)Exchange 31: Reimagining Community & Being A Neighbor will take a deep look at how to build more equitable communities in San Diego County and beyond by focusing on the ecosystem of a community. An ecosystem including three critical areas: jobs, small business growth, and community engagement both within and outside of the community. By collaborating as neighbors and addressing these issues, we can foster greater empathy and understanding, leading to solutions that promote economic development in underserved areas and reduce racism through real conversations and action. This important discussion will be moderated by Sister Cities Project founder Shawn McClondon with an expert panel that includes Deona Dorsey from San Diego Workforce Partnership, the largest workforce development organization in San Diego County, Sheri Jones, Co-Founder of Black San Diego, Empowering our Community , Dr. James Wright, Assistant Professor at SDSU and Author on the Legacy of the Great Migration and Educational Inequities and Dr. Mai Thi Nguyen, Director & Professor, The Design Lab, UC San Diego and World Design Capital San Diego Tijuana 2024 committee member. -> Learn more & get your ticket here: https://lnkd.in/gE29VYmn Our (Eco)Exchanges bring groups of residents from affluent neighborhoods to under-resourced neighborhoods to support local businesses, visit important sites within the community and have discussions with residents, business owners, community leaders and city officials about how communities within a Sister Cities Partnership can support one another. Sister Cities Project was founded by Shawn McClondon and born to create formal partnerships between affluent communities and underserved communities to build a new relationship to deepen cultural understanding between those communities. -> Learn more about SCP here: https://lnkd.in/gh2GmUPJ #sistercitiesproject #diversity #diversityandinclusion #DiversityEquityInclusion #solanabeach #carmelvalley #cityheightssd #delmar #SoutheasternSanDiego #Ecosystems #workforcedevelopent #smallbusiness #communitydevelopment #communty #event #sandiego #encinitas #goodneighbor #equity #communityequity #racialequity #sandiegocounty

Sister Cities Project wants you to see this post from Leah Rothstein who has written extensively about segregation, one of the intentional discriminatory policies that resulted in continued segregation and divestment in black and brown communities. As we begin the count down to our Unite for Health Equity Event on Saturday, 6/27/24, this is a reminder that health disparities were and are intentional also. Health inequities did not happen by accident. There is history. This is a pattern we must understand and seek to dismantle by taking action together. Join our event Saturday - register below. https://lnkd.in/guK5iKUd
When we believe that segregation happened by accident, we think that it can only unhappen by accident. But, once we understand that intentional action created segregation, we can see that intentional action can begin to undo it. Take a few minutes to visit our website at https://lnkd.in/gE5fb8eV

Join Sister Cities Project for a groundbreaking Event centered on Health Equity in City Height this Saturday, July 27 (register below for tickets). Unite for Health Equity: The Truth and a Path for Action Our Lived-Experience Panelists look forward to sharing their unique perspectives with you. When we say lived experience, we mean knowledge based on someone’s valuable and essential perspective, personal identities, and history, beyond their professional or educational experience. To solve problems around Health Equity, we must seek to understand the lived-experience of people most impacted by the disparities. Sister Cities Project is grateful for the contribution of our Lived-Experience panelists who are generously giving their time to this important Event.
