Today, I had a wonderful opportunity to meet with Kabi C. at the Utah Community Builders, a nonprofit community impact foundation affiliated with the Salt Lake Chamber. Their mission is to engage Utah's business community in addressing issues that strengthen our workforce, families, and all residents of Utah. A few takeaways from their "Guide to Family-Friendly Workplaces": 1. Child Care Crisis: Utah is grappling with a significant child care challenge that impacts our workforce and economy. The lack of accessible child care services results in an estimated annual economic loss of $1.36 billion for the state. 2. Business Impact: Child care is not solely a family concern; it also affects businesses by influencing how and why we work. Employers that offer child care support can enhance employee retention and set themselves apart in the market. 3. Employer Solutions: Employers can contribute by providing flexible work schedules, exploring child care options, and offering resources such as a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or on-site child care facilities. 4. Collective Responsibility: It's crucial for workplaces to acknowledge their role in promoting child care options, as this can yield significant benefits for both employees and organizations. #UtahCommunityBuilders #FamilyFriendlyWorkplaces #BusinessImpact #ChildCareCrisis #HR

ORGANISATION AND SOCIAL CHANGE MARKETING AND CURRENT SITUATION... While reading an article by John Kania, Managing Director at FSG, and Mark Kramer, Co-founder of FSG and Kennedy School at Harvard, I recognized the significance of Collective Impact in organizations, business models, community projects, and initiatives. Collective impact emphasizes the idea that for organizations to address social problems on a large scale, they must coordinate efforts and collaborate around a clearly defined goal. This contrasts with "isolated impact," where organizations work independently. It draws on collaborative leadership, focusing on collective goals, strategic partnerships, shared accountability, and a backbone institution. Organizations form cross-sector coalitions to make sustainable progress on social issues. I often ponder how we can collaborate despite our personalities and positions, contributing to projects that benefit not only us but also communities and future generations.

Empowering Young Thinkers: Equity and Opportunity in Central & Hampton Roads The future of Central and Hampton Roads depends on our ability to uplift the next generation of innovators and problem solvers. Yet, many young thinkers are still denied access to employment opportunities and key decision-making spaces. This lack of representation and inclusion stifles regional progress. Now more than ever, we need to ensure that young minds have a seat at the table. It’s essential for companies, institutions, and key stakeholders to create pathways that bridge the gap between potential and opportunity. By actively including young, diverse talent in leadership discussions, strategic planning, and innovation efforts, we not only promote equity but also enhance the growth and competitiveness of these regions. The Central and Hampton Roads areas have the potential to become hubs of innovation, but we can’t get there without committing to true representation and equal access to opportunity. Let’s open doors, foster inclusive hiring practices, and provide platforms where young voices are heard, valued, and empowered to lead. #EquityForAll #YoungLeaders #EmploymentOpportunities #KeyDecisionMakers #DiversityInclusion #CentralVirginia #HamptonRoads #ProgressAndGrowth

Un-engaged or actively disengaged employees result in about $1.9 trillion in lost productivity in the U.S. according to Gallup, writes IAVE executive director Nichole Cirillo on the IAVE blog at https://buff.ly/4dQHeFn “Engaged employees, on the other hand, have higher wellbeing, better retention, lower absenteeism and higher productivity. Joint-Heir With Christ | I teach Nonprofits To Raise Money & Recruit Quality Board Members | Founder, Nonprofit School | VP Client Services, SM LLC | NANOE Certified Nonprofit Consultant & Development Executive
RECRUITING NONPROFIT BOARD MEMBERS THE RIGHT WAY Let's talk about a pivotal lesson in board member recruitment that transformed my approach. I learned an invaluable experience when I assisted an organization in recruiting new board members. Since we were in a hurry to recruit new board members, I wanted Immediate Board Integration! That led us to interviewing and recruiting board members directly into the board for quick incorporation. In no time, we hit a roadblock. Realizing the difficulties, I swiftly reassessed, implemented corrective steps, and got things back on track. I learned that Instead of overwhelming new board members by bringing them directly into the board, it is important you bring them in as volunteers and advisors first. If alignment occurs, they will naturally gravitate towards board roles especially when you already have processes in place for such moves. As I have come to learn, slow inclusion Breeds Commitment! By ensuring inclusion one step at a time within the organization before board inclusion, you set the stage for committed and engaged board members. Takeaway: Strategic onboarding is the key to building a dynamic and cohesive board.
