Today was the second instalment of our European food adventure, cooking and bringing in dishes from countries across Europe in honour of this year's Euros 🌍🥖🥘
This week we had a wonderful spread ranging from homemade Slovenian Jota to Polish Pierogi and a fine selection of French cheeses 🍲🧀
All to raise money for Safe In Our World 💰❤
Maple Cameron Law supports this and I feel this is a fundraiser that everyone can get behind! Many of our clients are struggling with putting food on the table and our food banks are low on supplies.
We are following Taylor’s lead and giving back (#iTSgiving13) by choosing Food Banks Canada to help in this mission as we fight food insecurity in Canada together!
Give Fearlessly!! https://lnkd.in/g3q3nDyg
Join us in a Canada-wide fan project as we “Tay It Forward,” thanking Taylor Swift for coming to Canada and celebrating the conclusion of the indescribable impact of the Eras Tour! Our turn has been a long time coming, but we are so grateful Taylor is coming here and we want to do something big!
This project began with one fan’s idea, and with the support of a Toronto Night 6 Facebook group, it quickly grew to include Swifties from across North America.
Our project is about giving back. We want to raise $1.3 million for Food Banks Canada, and we need YOU to do it! We are asking each person to donate $13. You are welcome to donate another Taylor-inspired number, but every $13 donation is appreciated and will get us closer to our goal. Once you donate, please share on your social media and help us get the word out!
Why Support Food Banks Canada?
At least 2 million people in Canada are relying on food banks each month - more than at any time in history.
1 in 3 food bank users are children.
Every dollar you give to Food Banks Canada translates into 2 meals for a family that needs your support!
Canadian food charities are at their limit and yet are anticipating the need to increase by 18% in 2024, while more than a third of non-profits are forced to turn people away due to a lack of food and funding. It's absolutely outrageous and cannot become our "New Normal." Food is a basic human right, so why are millions of Canadians being forced to access food charities? Check out the Second Harvest report below.

Thanks Tammie Sutherland and breakfast television for highlighting the need.

Regarding the situation of Paul Watson (founder of NGO Sea Sheperd), I can't stand still and say nothing anymore. As you may know, Paul Watson was arrested by the Danish authorities in Greenland on the 21st of July. In fact, Japan had issued an international arrest warrant in 2012 against the non-profit whale protection activities, and has now requested his extradition to Japan since the 31st of July.
The fact that Paul Watson can be arrested today, 12 years later, for trying to protect our ecosystem is pure nonsense and further proof that we live in a world where business realities are far too often at odds with the common good.
I can't recommend you enough to watch this Arte documentary on the life and mission of Paul Watson to understand the full resonance of his actions: https://lnkd.in/ep79md54
I also invite you to sign and share the #freepaulwatson petition: https://lnkd.in/eahbRjhH
Finally, I would like to remind you that companies can also donate to non-profit organisations. Otomoro donates to a number of associations, including Sea Shepherd France. If you are a business owner, get involved. If you work for a company, talk to your managers and start a campaign.
It is crucial to show the world that the caretakers, the protectors, cannot be intimidated by corporations and governments when they are acting for the common good.

We deliver to our local food bank..
Every Wednesday just before the shop closes, we go to the bakery section and take all of the leftover baked items to our local food bank for those who need it the most.
I think the initiative that they have started here, where we can take the food for free and drop it off at the designated food bank locations, is a great way to look after those people in the community who are vulnerable and are struggling to make ends meet.
As citizens, living here in the UK, I feel we have responsibility to take care of all of those around us in which ever way shape or form that may be.
Whether you’re visiting your local care home, checking in with your neighbours, volunteering in your local community or even dropping off food you may have made those who you think maybe in need of it, are all ways we can help fulfil our rights to those around us.
With it being the month of Ramadan, it is incumbent upon us to give charity and lead by example, when it comes to serving those around us.
People always feel guilty when they are not able to fast during this blessed month, and whenever they ask me what they can do to offset this guilt. I always tell them that you can attain righteousness in other way, even if you are not able to fast due to the reasons stated to us by God Almightly.
You can spend more time in the worship of Allah, give charity, focus more on reading the holy Quran, and other way that you know pleases Him.
Muslims, who truly understand the teachings of Islam, always strive to help those around them, regardless of the colour, creed or faith.
Do what you can to make a difference in the area in which you live in, and let’s work together to make the world a better place. 🤲🏽

⭐IMPORTANT REMINDERS ABOUT HUMAN TRAFFICKING⭐
🛑 Anyone, even people in the UK and/or from affluent backgrounds, can end up in a situation of trafficking or slavery.
🛑 Being trafficked entails a combination of abuse, control, and exploitation that take a lot to process, escape and recover from.
🛑 It’s all of our responsibility to safeguard victims of trafficking by knowing and being able to recognise the signs. To learn what they are, refer to Unseen UK's resource here ▶ https://lnkd.in/ezYUFB8d
🛑 We must see the exploited/trafficked as whole people with lives, talents, hopes, visions, and dreams of their own for the future. The rehabilitation process is about helping them get back to all of that.
⬆ As shared by Unseen UK's team on yesterday's webinar for #WorldDayAgainstTraffickinginPersons.
Please read more below about their recommendations for a more appropriate, person-centered approach to combatting modern slavery in the UK.
