20 years ago this month, Andre Lavoie and I sat down in a Dunkin' Donuts in Newton Center with our attorney to sign the incorporation paperwork for what eventually became ClearCompany. For me, the company really started almost two years earlier, when Andre called me back one evening and said, "what are you doing with that idea with the resumes you told me about? I like that one." We'd kicked dozens of concepts around over the prior few years, but one of us always found a reason to bounce them--until then. But this one, the more we chewed on it, the more it felt like The One. And so in September of 2004 we made it official, and six months later launched our first product, with our first paying customer (though I never did get around to sending them a bill for their $3000 subscription). A while back a candidate I was interviewing asked me what was the biggest surprise after (almost) 20 years, and I said, "how much the essential problem hasn't changed." What was obvious to Andre and I, even as overconfident and inexperienced twentysomethings, was how poorly companies understood their people, and the processes they used to manage and (hopefully) maximize the value of that enormous investment. We believed that a single system which could accompany the employee from the moment of first contact to the end of their journey would help companies hire better, build great cultures, and develop and retain the top talent needed to hit their goals. Since then, the work of HR teams has migrated from being mostly on paper--if it was tracked at all--to a vast ecosystem of tens of thousands of HR and recruiting apps, and I'm not sure it's benefited the overworked and underappreciated HR teams as much as it's benefited the HCM industry. And that's why our vision--our North Star--remains largely the same as it was over two decades ago. It's been an incredible ride and it wouldn't have been possible without the help of hundreds of employees and thousands of customers who put their trust in us over the years. Thank you!

From small beginnings to big wins 🌟 When I started my business, I didn’t dream big—I just wanted to start. I took on small projects. I said “yes” to almost everything. I worked hard, often for less than I should have. But each project taught me something: ✅ How to communicate better with clients. ✅ How to create processes that save time. ✅ How to turn a client’s vision into reality. Over time, those small wins started adding up: ✨ My first referral from a happy client. ✨ The first project that truly felt like me. ✨ The first time someone said, “You’ve changed my business.” Today, I lead a studio working with clients across the globe, creating designs that transform brands and drive results. And it all started with those first imperfect, scrappy steps. LET'S CELEBRATE ALL OUR WINS !! 🎉 ESPECIALLY THE ONES PEOPLE DON’T SEE   Last week was huge for me, with three wins I’m especially proud of: 1.  My brand new speech with fresh material that resonated powerfully. 2.  Pitching to mainstream media in Sydney, allowing me to form new connections that will help my voice & message reach new audiences. 3. Showing up with grace, strength & power at a legal proceeding that has massively challenged me for the last 18 months. I am really proud of these “public” successes that other people can see, but they are a tiny glimpse of the “private” successes that lie beneath them. But behind each of these moments are countless hours of commitment, growth, and persistence.  Behind every “win” lies a mountain of invisible victories—work done in silence and dedication that no one sees, but that makes all the difference. For me, this journey isn’t just about what I’m creating externally; it’s about WHO I’m becoming in the process. It’s been years of: • Getting clear on my vision, my message, & my purpose on this planet 🌎 • Deepening my self-trust and reshaping my relationship with my emotions. Ultimately I think our journey through life is a journey of the emotions, & in letting them guide rather than control us. • Trusting in my own resilience through times of uncertainty - even on days when I wasn’t sure where I’d be sleeping the next night   The truth is, public recognition and accolades are just the tip of the iceberg. What really defines us are the quiet moments - the times we keep pushing forward, when no-one’s watching, because we’re committed to our growth & our cause. For each of us, the private work is where the magic truly happens. In the shadows of our public “wins,” we’re constantly choosing courage, dedication, and resilience over comfort.  This is what it means to show up in our lives.  The success others see is built on top of a foundation of consistency and self-belief, often made one difficult decision at a time. It is important to celebrate wins. There are many low points in a day, week, month as a start up founder. Today we had a great day. The team was buzzing. We feel we are getting closer to Product Market Fit. Every day. We can all feel it and see it. Customers are responding positively to our vision and tech. We celebrate in small ways, together. A smoothie. A meal. A walk. A game of tennis. A break at the beach. Whatever it is. This is so important to do. We enjoy what we do. As a team. That way we also stick together through the low times. And there are many. How do you celebrate your (little) wins?
