The latest FTSE Women Leaders Review confirms the progress made in gender diversity at the board level. Nearly three-quarters of FTSE 350 companies have met or exceeded 40% female board representation. Yet, the leadership pipeline remains a concern. Female representation in executive roles—where key strategic decisions are made—still lags behind: 🔹 Only 10 female CEOs in the FTSE 100. 🔹 29.2% of executive committee roles held by women. 🔹 Finance Director roles—key stepping stones to CEO—remain male-dominated. It’s clear that representation alone is not enough. The real challenge for business leaders is ensuring that women have access to the critical pathways that lead to C-suite positions. This means: 🔹 Identifying and sponsoring high-potential women for commercial and operational roles. 🔹 Challenging assumptions about leadership readiness—women are qualified; they need opportunities. 🔹 Creating accountability at the executive level to track and accelerate progress. Achieving 40% female leadership at all levels by 2025 will not happen through passive change. It requires strategic action and commitment from senior leaders who understand that diverse leadership isn’t just a metric—it’s a competitive advantage. At everywoman, we work with businesses to turn this ambition into reality. How is your organisation ensuring women progress beyond the board and into key leadership roles?
