Small business owners are in strife when it comes to sleep and stress. A 2019 study shows that small business owners are burning the candle at both ends to keep things running ( 🙋♀️ ). This means sleep is heavily sacrificed with the average small biz owner getting less than 5 HOURS PER NIGHT. Combine this with the high stress of managing and working in the biz and we have a vicious cycle of stress impacting sleep and lack of sleep increasing stress. Many are then 'de-stressing' with alcohol. Spoiler alert☣. Those couple of drinks each night to 'de-stress' are doing the exact opposite - they are increasing cortisol (stress hormone) in the longer term. So let’s look at what happens when we sleep less than 6 hours a night, (this was almost 50% of people in this study): 🛑 Poor attention, concentration, and low creativity 🛑 Memory issues 🛑 Increase in injury risk 🛑 Increased stress, confusion and irritability With all this going on it's near impossible to operate a businesses well and serve clients in a way they deserve.
