Slow Wave Inc. is starting clinical trials for their new UASD (upper airway stimulation device) oral appliance for obstructive sleep apnea. Study Overview Brief Summary This is a safety and efficacy trial for a Slow Wave, Inc. UASD oral appliance for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. This trial will recruit 60-80 participants through our IRB partner. Each participant will take pre-trial and post trail sleep studies and be measured before, throughout and after the trial for Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI), Oxygen Desaturation Index (ODI), pulse rate to determine level of sleep improvement while wearing the device. Safety will also be measured through survey, dental exams and adverse events monitoring. Patients will wear an O2 monitoring ring throughout the study and upload results daily. Primary Objectives will evaluate AHI and ODI between sleep studies. Secondary outcomes will compare the daily ring data to these two sleep studies to evaluate changes over time. Patients will have the opportunity to complete daily diaries on their sleep experiences. Read all about this at https://lnkd.in/gkmQ-cvU

I help researchers and pharmaceutical companies achieve convincing real-world-data in clinical trials with our cutting-edge vital and sleep monitoring devices.
💡One of the best lessons learned: Short-term monitoring isn't the problem - It's long-term monitoring! When we first designed our medical device at Sleepiz AG, we were focused on developing a tool for a more comfortable sleep apnea diagnosis. One with less cables. But listening to our users uncovered an even bigger problem: long-term monitoring 📊That's what is really difficult to do with current technologies. Now, our tech is primarily used in clinical research for continuous sleep & vital monitoring as well as remote patient monitoring, #RPM – an exciting pivot thanks to feedback from those who matter most! You're users and customers👩⚕️👨⚕️ 🤔 Curious to hear your thoughts - What benefits do you see in continuous monitoring? #RemotePatientMonitoring #SleepTechnology #DigitalHealth #DigitalHealthTEchnology #DHT #MedicalDevices #SleepApnea #ClinicalResearch #PatientEngagement #ContinuousMonitoring #VitalSignsMonitoring

Exploring the Link Between Diabetes and Sleep Apnea: How DreamStation CPAP Can Help Research has revealed a significant connection between diabetes and sleep apnea, two common yet serious health conditions. Studies indicate that individuals with sleep apnea are at a higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes mellitus, and vice versa. Understanding this link is crucial for managing both conditions effectively and improving overall health outcomes. The Connection Between Diabetes and Sleep Apnea Sleep apnea is a disorder characterized by repeated interruptions in breathing during sleep. These interruptions can lead to decreased oxygen levels in the blood and fragmented sleep. People with sleep apnea often experience symptoms such as loud snoring, daytime sleepiness, and difficulty concentrating. Diabetes, particularly Type 2 diabetes, is a chronic condition that affects how the body processes blood sugar (glucose). The relationship between sleep apnea and diabetes is bidirectional: untreated sleep apnea can lead to insulin resistance, a precursor to diabetes, while diabetes can exacerbate the severity of sleep apnea. Importance of Treatment Addressing sleep apnea can significantly impact the management of diabetes. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy is one of the most effective treatments for sleep apnea. The DreamStation CPAP device, in particular, offers advanced features that help maintain open airways during sleep, ensuring uninterrupted breathing and improved sleep quality. Benefits of DreamStation CPAP for Managing Sleep Apnea Consistent Airflow: DreamStation CPAP provides a steady stream of air to keep the airways open, reducing the episodes of apnea. Enhanced Comfort: With customizable settings and a user-friendly design, the device ensures comfort and encourages regular use. Improved Sleep Quality: By preventing interruptions in breathing, DreamStation CPAP promotes restful sleep, which is essential for overall health and well-being. Conclusion Managing sleep apnea effectively can lead to better control of blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of complications associated with diabetes. The DreamStation CPAP is a reliable and efficient solution for those suffering from sleep apnea, offering the benefits of improved sleep and overall health. Tirzepatide for the Treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Obesity Obstructive sleep apnea is characterized by disordered breathing during sleep and is associated with major cardiovascular complications; excess adiposity is an etiologic risk factor. Tirzepatide may be a potential treatment. Now researchers say tirzepatide could help people with OSA, a disorder whereby breathing stops and starts during sleep as a result of the upper airway narrowing or collapsing. “It’s estimated that up to 3 million people in the UK may have OSA but have not yet been diagnosed,” said Dr Kunal Gulati, the executive director for diabetes and obesity medical affairs at Lilly Northern Europe. “Tirzepatide has the potential to be the first pharmaceutical treatment for OSA, which could address the unmet need for people living with this condition.” Many people who live with OSA rely on a device called a Cpap (continuous positive airway pressure) machine, which – as the NHS notes – pumps air into a mask worn over the mouth or nose during sleep. Among persons with moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea and obesity, tirzepatide reduced the AHI, body weight, hypoxic burden, hsCRP concentration, and systolic blood pressure and improved sleep-related patient-reported outcomes.
