How do you seamlessly integrate architectural design with its natural surroundings?👇 This was the challenge faced in redeveloping the Wasgau Supermarket and adjacent residential buildings in Landau, Germany. The Wasgau Fresh Food Market, surrounded by picturesque vineyards, needed a design that reflected its natural environment. The new facade features unique green perforations made from CELLON® panels, designed to resemble the surrounding vineyards. 🍇 Blending beautifully with the landscape it also allows natural light to filter through, creating an inviting and bright interior space. Wasgau expanded the project to include residential buildings. These new structures feature the same CELLON® panel design used for the market, serving as privacy and shading screens on the balconies. This continuity in design creates a cohesive visual link between the commercial and residential spaces, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the area. Each unit has access to an outdoor area, either a balcony or a garden, ensuring residents can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The buildings' orientation to the east, west, and south ensures optimal natural lighting throughout the day. Architectural Harmony with Nature The architecture of both the supermarket and the residential buildings is characterized by a straightforward, orderly design that emphasizes timelessness and elegance. The calm color scheme, featuring white plaster, white windows, and light brown contrasting elements, creates a high-quality and inviting appearance. The use of CELLON® panels with a vineyard-inspired design reinforces the connection to the natural surroundings and adds a unique, abstract visual element to the buildings. Thoughtful design can create a harmonious blend between modern architecture and the natural environment. By using over 100 unique designs and offering custom design options, we’ll help bring your architectural visions to life, ensuring that each project is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. ___ Client: Wasgau Quartier GmbH & Co. #ICYMI in our last issue: A recent trend in architecture and interior design has been the integration of nature into projects. The application of these biophilic design endeavours range from the mere display of natural images in space to more comprehensive strategies integrating nature into designs through the use of plants, gardens, access to light and fresh air, all in an effort to further connect humans to the natural world.

Exciting news! 🌟 Our newest building stands out as a futuristic masterpiece, resembling a sleek spaceship or a majestic manta ray. The unique design not only captivates with its smooth curves but also optimizes structural efficiency. Featuring a cutting-edge space truss system, the structure boasts a remarkable long-span covering the training pool. This innovative design eliminates obstructive columns, creating a vast, unobstructed interior space. The fish-belly-shaped concrete cross-storey trusses not only support the pool but also enhance the building's stability and aesthetic appeal. The facade is a striking blend of glass and solid panels, playing beautifully with light and shadow. Extensive glass usage floods the interior with natural light, reducing the need for artificial lighting and fostering a bright, inviting ambiance. Ingeniously integrated spaces house essential facilities within the concrete trusses, optimizing functionality while preserving a clean, open interior layout. While sustainability features were not explicitly detailed, the building likely incorporates energy-efficient lighting, water conservation measures, and eco-friendly materials. Exciting to see architecture and sustainability harmonize in this remarkable project! 🏗️ #Architecture #Design #Sustainability

We believe in human centric architecture, where every aspect is addressed down to the smallest detail for the target audience.
At MV Architects, we believe that great design should not only serve a purpose but also create experiences. Our latest project captures this philosophy, where man is the main character. This retreat was crafted with guests in mind, offering a seamless blend of comfort, privacy, and connection to the natural surroundings. The design integrates the cabin and parking area into one structure, with a sweeping canopy that starts at the parking zone, flows over the entrance, and extends to a side terrace. To ensure guests feel secure, we incorporated angled vertical slats that offer privacy without sacrificing openness. These elements, combined with a façade finished in sleek vertical slats, create a visually cohesive and welcoming atmosphere. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the breathtaking mountain views, inviting nature into the living spaces and offering guests a great experience. The material palette was chosen with care. Cobblestone paving provides a charming, rustic entrance. Wooden decking on the terrace adds warmth and a natural touch. A double-folded sheet metal roof ensures durability in mountain conditions while contributing to the cabin’s modern aesthetic. Discreet, low-profile lighting enhances the design, illuminating key areas like pathways and the terrace without competing with the natural surroundings. At night, the cabin glows softly, offering a welcoming and peaceful presence in the wilderness. This cabin is more than a rental—it’s a destination for creating memories. It offers a space where guests can disconnect from their routines, immerse themselves in nature, and experience the beauty of mountain life. We are proud to have designed a retreat that provides comfort and inspires unforgettable experiences for its visitors. #Architecture #Design #MountainCabin #RetreatRental #GuestExperience #SustainableDesign

Balancing local heritage with modern design is a challenge that many architects face today. Proclamation House by State of Kin, located in Subiaco, Western Australia, is a remarkable example of how this balance can be achieved. The home’s sculptural concrete structure, paired with a natural hemp render and contemporary aluminum accents, creates a warm yet sophisticated atmosphere. The design integrates traditional elements like pitched roofs and expansive setbacks, reflecting the area’s character while introducing a fresh, contemporary vision. What stands out to me about Proclamation House is how it transcends being just a residence—it feels like a dialogue between history and modernity, between structure and environment. The seamless transition of materials from exterior to interior, the sustainable choices, and the careful balance of aesthetics and functionality demonstrate a deep understanding of both the past and present. It’s a reminder that design is more than just creating spaces; it’s about shaping experiences that resonate with both place and people, turning a house into a true expression of lifestyle and identity. Nader Sammouri tells us on Black Architecture Black does not stand for the color; rather, it is such a deep design feature reflecting contrast, sophistication, and modernity. The spectrum, which goes from deep charcoal through light shades of grey, subtly forms an understanding of space with each one. Architects can use these subtle variations to create environments of very different moods and atmospheres, running from dramatically bold to elegantly serene. It can, therefore, become something more, reaching toward versatility in making spaces ringing with complexity and echoing in light and shadow. In this way, shades of black could create a captivating and sophisticated interior space through the interplay of textures and finishes.... Our Alentejo project is coming together beautifully—but this is far from an average project. Working with buildings constructed in the old traditional ways comes with its challenges. To give you some context: these buildings were designed with 1m-thick walls to act as a thermal barrier against the intense heat of dry summers and the biting cold of winter. This incredible heritage means we’ve had to get creative and innovative. By carving out wall space, introducing beams to counterbalance the structure, and insulating from the outside, we’re able to adapt while preserving the essence of these historic properties. Take this bedroom as an example—it’s the smallest room in the property, yet it doesn’t feel small. It feels right. Here’s why: By integrating the fitted headboard within the architecture, we maximised the available space, making room for a comfortable queen-size bed and fitted wardrobe/storage joinery. As a result this bedroom is cozy, functional, and beautifully balanced. Even as the smallest room in the property, I wouldn’t mind calling it my own! Creative design is powerful. It can overcome challenges, preserve history, and deliver spaces that feel just right. Have you worked on any projects with unique design challenges? I’d love to hear how you approached them!

The Art of Development: Turning 4 into 6 🏡 Development is all about knowing the residential codes and understanding how to maximise potential. While most would see a site fit for just 4 townhouses, careful planning has unlocked the opportunity for 6 apartments instead. Here’s the concept: • Street Appeal: Designed as 3 townhouse-style dwellings to maintain the streetscape • Smart Design: Each "townhouse" features an apartment above and below • Modern Contemporary Style: Black, white, concrete, LED strip lighting, and nature integration—our favourite aesthetic • Affordable Housing: These homes bring much-needed affordable options to the Perth market without compromising on quality These innovative designs redefine entry-level housing, offering style and practicality in one package. .
