My father was a welder, working hard to support our family. A few years ago, he became ill and had to stop working. This made life very difficult for us, especially when it came to paying for my education. Despite our struggles, I never gave up on my dreams. Education was my hope for a better future. My uncle stepped in and helped me finish my degree, which I am very grateful for. The real change came when I joined a livelihood training program at Smile Foundation. This training gave me the skills I needed to find a good job and also boosted my confidence. Now, I have a job, and I am helping my family move out of poverty. I have faith that soon we will overcome every challenge and will soon build a brighter future. Ramya was trained on BFSI and placed in a reputed firm in Bangalore. Today, she is the sole earner of the family, also taking care of the education of her siblings. Know more about Smile Foundation’s livelihood initiative: https://lnkd.in/duMc2gGy #TayyariKalKi

📢 Teacher's Act of Kindness Inspires Hope in Begusarai, Bihar! Ms. Sneha, a dedicated teacher in Begusarai, Bihar, has captured hearts with her remarkable gesture after receiving her first month's salary. "Raising the Bar for Inclusivity: A Call for Universal Health Coverage on World Disability Day" ------------------- Today, on World Disability Day, I request your attention not only for inclusion and accessibility but to confront a specific, glaring injustice: the refusal of health insurance coverage for individuals with pre-existing medical conditions. It is absolutely outrageous and unacceptable that so many people in our country, myself included, are callously denied comprehensive health insurance. I could go on and on about the sheer unfairness of this issue. But the real question is: Are there people with the courage and power to make a change? Industrialists, policymakers, academic institutions, corporate organizations, and common public – We have all become complicit in this discrimination. Denying coverage to those with pre-existing conditions is not just unfair. This situation is a disgraceful mirror of our societal values, where those in suffering are abandoned to fend for themselves. Thus, on this World Disability Day, let me serve as a stark reminder of a critical area where our world has shown a profound disability in addition to what I was born: the lack of a fair, just, and universal health insurance for those with pre-existing medical conditions. And if reminders of our shortcomings are not what we seek today, but rather a narrative of hope and progress, here’s one video too. I earnestly hope that in our eagerness to celebrate achievements, diversity, and inclusion, we also solve the very real and pressing issues that must demand our urgent attention and action. At least in one area. At least on whatever little way we truly can. #WorldDisabilityDay #HealthcareForAll #InclusiveInsurance #EndMedicalDiscrimination #UniversalHealthCoverage #PreExistingConditionRights #EquityInHealthcare #InclusionMatters #DisabilityAdvocacy #ChangeTheNarrative
