Keeping one's children engaged during the summer holidays is not easy. How does one ensure continued mental stimulation when school is off? Of course, constraints such as screen time limits and a minimum quantity of outdoor play time have to be factored in. Summer camps help, of course. But a lot of time is still spent by children at home. Our co-founder Nirupama Sivaraman solved this problem in-house, with a custom book of puzzles for her daughter (and was it well-received or what!). How are you keeping your children engaged this summer? #education #learning #STEM #summerlearning #puzzles #quiz #school

Play supports children in gaining the mental, physical, and social skills necessary to succeed in their adult lives. At Anzania , through self-directed play, children can follow their interests, explore the unknown, link outcomes with choices, conquer fears as well as make new friends. 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘁 Children: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘐 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴. As parents, our instinct is often to swoop in and solve our children's problems. But what if we took a step back and allowed them to find solutions instead? Imagine asking an able-bodied person to walk with crutches. It would hinder their natural abilities. In the same way, constantly handing our kids life's solutions robs them of the chance to fully utilize their capabilities. The key is finding the right balance. We shouldn't let our children struggle endlessly, but we must resist the urge to immediately fix every challenge they face. 𝗔 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 Take the story of a secondary school child struggling with French lessons. The parents could have simply hired a tutor. Instead, they asked their child, "What do you think you can do to improve? Do you have any thoughts on this?" The child came back with a plan, reaching out to the school's French teacher for recommendations and finding language learning apps to practice on his own. By allowing their child to take the lead, these parents empowered him to own the process. His self-esteem soared, and he developed valuable resilience. When we give our kids the space to find solutions, we're preparing them for life beyond our sheltering wings. They'll learn to be creative problem solvers, overcome obstacles, and develop a healthy sense of self-reliance. 📌So the next time your child faces a challenge, pause before jumping in. Ask them for their ideas first. You might be amazed at their ingenuity - and the confident, capable individuals they'll grow to become.
