Call For Support 2-Day Event: March 21st & 22nd | AZ State Fairgrounds This is the largest stand down event in the country & we are experiencing a record number of veterans experiencing housing instability. These events allow veterans and their families who are experiencing housing instability and homelessness to get and stay connected to supportive services. We bring all of the resources and services to one convenient location, such as veteran benefits, healthcare services & screenings, food insecurity needs, dental work & optometry, transitional housing, pet care etc. The event has the following immediate needs: Golf carts: Transportation is needed to support veterans with limited mobility to navigate the different areas of the stand down & access benefits & services. Golf carts are needed for the two day event & can be returned to owner/organization after the event, or owner/organization can volunteer to be a driver for the day! Even better, if there is an organization that wants to donate a golf cart or two, that would be amazing! Volunteers: Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of tasks from set-up & tear down to registration & check-in to walking side by side with a veteran helping them navigate the different resources to meet their immediate & long-term needs. Opportunities between: Thursday, March 21, 6:30AM to 3PM & Friday, March 22, 7AM to 2PM Volunteers can register here: https://lnkd.in/gUW4xMeU Sponsorships: Examples of what sponsorship funds are used toward: operations such as building rentals, utilities, internet. Food for event participants & volunteers & fees for justice-involved veterans, such as paying court fines, paying license restorations, & paying for interlock devices for DUI offenders. You are at an event where check-in is via ticketing. As a ticket marshal, you have the list of all registered participants printed out for you to control entry. Two issues; 1. All ticket marshals are sited at the main entry point with the hard copy list of participants. As time draws near, participants arrive in their numbers and hence a crowd starts to build at this point. 2. The list of dignitaries and their company are not on the registered list because they were not meant to 'register', you have the partners of such dignitaries arriving and meeting no reception. To add to that, the ticket marshalling team cannot identify such people. What do you do (in the moment)? It seems your other colleagues do not notice these issues... Let's hear in the comments🤔 #volunteering #attentiontodetail

You know what day it is: #MeetYourMatch Monday! For those of you planning to attend as a FREE guest/ potential volunteer, please remember that we run from noon to 4 pm. When we say 4PM, be aware that we start packing up then. We have exactly an hour to clear up before the gym is turned over to the Youth Programs. If you show up at 3:55 and expect to take your time, you may be disappointed. Also, be aware that we can't control parking. The YMCA is still operational during our volunteer fair, so they will have their usual traffic, plus us. Are you taking the bus? You're good. If you are attending as a participant in the fair, please note that we have access to the gym starting at 11. You have an hour to set up, and an hour to pack up and cede the gym to its regularly scheduled activities, so please plan your display accordingly. Being considerate guests means being thorough and time-aware. It's a volunteer fair, not Laser Floyd. Any difficulties, please seek out one of the friendly Volunteer Peterborough members, who will happy to help you out. We are really, really looking forward to this. We want everyone to have a great experience, and sometimes that means planning ahead. Event details here, if you haven't already committed them to memory: https://buff.ly/3UmCoH5 See you there! YMCA Balsillie Branch, Noon to 4pm THIS WEDNESDAY! (May 8th) #volunteerfair #volunteerrecruitment #communitybuilding #meetyourmatch #planahead #volunteersrock

The Czech Government presented the results of the of the survey on volunteering in 2023 conducted by the Czech Statistical Office in a high level press conference and stressed the need to stably sustain regional volunteer centers who support voluntary engagement of citizens. The survey was initiated by the Secretariat of the Government Council for Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organisations and applied the ILO standard for the measurement of organization-based and direct volunteer work. This represents a major resource for comparative study of volunteering in Europe and I can't wait to delve into Czech data together with Tereza Pospíšilová and Jaromír Mazák and then confront them to Italy with Tania Cappadozzi and Riccardo Guidi, and to Norway with Karl Henrik Sivesind. " The volunteering rate in the second half of 2023 was 19.2%, with women having a higher volunteering rate (21.4%). Men were slightly behind women with a volunteering rate (16.9%), but volunteered more hours. Organised volunteering (56.6%) was predominant among volunteers, with volunteering most often focused on community development, community and neighbourhood help (23.7%) and social welfare (23.5%). All ages, all backgrounds, young to older, different motivations and hearts of gold! The #Volunteering spirit is driven by passion. The key is matching that passion to the cause people care about. Every #volunteer matters! Every caller to #Lifeline matters! Every book sold matters! The #Impact that volunteering has on everyone, including volunteers matters! There are good news stories out there in many places, people who care and people who share. As Lao Tzu said "Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love" https://lnkd.in/gtGyViix
