The chilling revelation that the CIA possessed vital intelligence hinting at the 9/11 attacks prior to their occurrence serves as a stark reminder of the delicate balance between actionable information and missed opportunities. Reports emerged indicating that a group of individuals, sharing eerie similarities with those later involved in the hijackings, had surfaced in the Midwest. These individuals were enrolled in flight training courses, yet their conspicuous absence from classes focused on landing techniques raised serious red flags. This critical piece of information, which lay within the CIA's grasp, represented a potential opportunity to prevent one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in history. The warning signs were unmistakable, with the individuals in question exhibiting behavior and patterns eerily reminiscent of the tactics employed by the 9/11 hijackers. However, despite possessing this crucial intelligence, the CIA failed to connect the dots and take decisive action to mitigate the looming threat. The tragic outcome of this missed opportunity serves as a sobering reminder of the grave consequences that can result from lapses in judgment, communication breakdowns, and institutional shortcomings within the intelligence community. In the high-stakes world of counterterrorism, where lives hang in the balance, the margin for error is razor-thin.

The Pentagon may soon introduce AI personas to online forums, according to a recent report by The Intercept. A wishlist from the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), a covert counterterrorism unit within the Department of Defense, indicates a growing interest in utilizing generative AI to create fake online users. This move raises questions about the implications for online discourse and digital interactions. #AI #Pentagon #JSOC #GenerativeAI #Counterterrorism #OnlineSecurity #DigitalDiscourse #Cybersecurity #Technology #EthicsInAI

I am very pleased to announce the launch of our new course, "Hostile Surveillance Awareness and Detection," on the CTCB OnDemand system. This has been a challenging collaborative effort, but I am delighted with the final outcome. In this course, I share several personal case studies of hostile surveillance encounters from my past experience. Understanding and detecting hostile surveillance is crucial, as it is our primary tool for identifying, preventing, and responding to criminal and terrorist threats. Early detection means recognizing a threat before others do, allowing you to address potential issues before they escalate into incidents. As security, military, and law enforcement professionals, our goal is to prevent incidents rather than merely respond to them, ensuring the continued operation of our organizations. Therefore, possessing the skill of early detection is essential. As the saying goes, "You should extinguish the match before the fire breaks out."

The Commander of the United States Africa Command Marine Corps, General Michael Langley, on Thursday, said the US is consulting with Nigeria to counter-terrorism. He also explained that the US military withdrew from its former base in the Niger Republic on the demands of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland. The CNSP is the ruling military junta of Niger, following the 2023 coup d’état which overthrew Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou’s government. Langley also said the US troops were making collaborative efforts to counter terrorism in West Africa but emphasised that the US intervention was based on invitations from African countries. He underscored a shift toward African-led security efforts, stressing the need for local leadership in tackling some of the continent’s most pressing threats. The UMBRA suite of threat intelligence, OSINT, data security, precrime surveillance and predictive analytics is critical to all of Africa's requirements. FBI Director Christopher Wray Warns of Growing Threats: In a recent speech, FBI Director Christopher Wray highlighted the escalating danger posed by foreign adversaries and terrorist groups targeting the United States. These threats encompass cyber operations, security breaches, and “mafia-like” tactics. The agency is actively working to thwart coordinated attacks from groups like ISIS-K. Wray also emphasized the renewed calls for attacks against Jewish communities within the U.S. and the West. The recent ISIS-K attack at the Russia Concert Hall underscores the urgency of vigilance. As we navigate these challenges, let’s remain steadfast in safeguarding our communities and countering radicalization. #USA #NationalSecurity #Counterterrorism #StayVigilant #AIinSecurity #CounterTerrorTech #AlgorithmicBias #EthicalAI #AutonomousWeapons #CybersecurityAI #OnlineRadicalization #ResponsibleAI #AIGovernance #GlobalSecurity #HumanRightsAI #TransparencyAI #PredictiveAnalytics NATO US GOVERNMENT/DOD/US ARMY UK Ministry of Defence Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) #WorldNews #BreakingNews #InternationalHeadlines #GlobalNews #CurrentEvents #TopStories #DailyNews #NewsUpdate #NewsAlert #NewsFeed #NewsNow #NewsFlash #NewsOfTheDay #NewsSummary #NewsDigest

https://lnkd.in/gJzgAc7h The joint war games between Manila and Washington next year, which will simulate a “full scale” battle for the first time, will also see the biggest number of personnel. This is what he means by a full concept rehearsal. Brawner, however, noted that the next year’s drills will integrate all of the drills which used to be conducted separately like command post exercise, skill training exercise and cyber exercise. The AFP chief also said that, unlike in previous drills where counterterrorism is the main focus, the Balikatan 2025 will put maritime defense and security into centerstage.
‘Full scale’ Balikatan 2025 will also see biggest troop deployment ever
