⁉ Can art express the inextricable link between living beings on earth? 🪸 Today, I'd like to present some of my current work and thoughts on living things, combining art and science. This photographic concept takes up the well-known symbiotic principle of coral - since this is the basis of its functioning - in order to raise awareness of the current condition of the marine world and all its living beings. See more on my website! https://lnkd.in/d8mUVeQ4 💡 The “We are corals” project I've been running since 2016 is the photographic alliance of two animals, the coral and the human, like a chimera retracing the genesis of life on Earth. The first form of coral appeared over 500 million years ago, and the human Homo has existed for 300,000 years. Martin 💧 PS : 🐠 Let's work together to preserv aquatic biodiversity, life in general and the human species in particular. #wearecorals #art #coralconservation #photographie #science #ecologie #corail #biology #coralconservation #photography #science #ecology

This is Codifi’s dream, too. Many changes and contributions are needed to dream this into reality. At Codifi, we believe that one part of the equation is fieldtech that can improve business margins per project and over time to free up time, money, and energy, especially at small CRM firms, to make life-changing adjustments to work patterns, compensation, and benefits. Let’s wake the dreams into reality 🌈
Incredibly powerful and important words from Jennifer Botica, one of our founding directors.. Have you thought about what you’d like to see change in our field for future generations? 12,500-year-old rock art in Colombian Amazon reveals complex human-animal relationships A recent study of rock art in the Colombian Amazon provides new insights into the complex relationships between the region’s earliest settlers and the animals they encountered. The research focuses on the Cerro Azul site in the Serranía de la Lindosa, a region adorned with thousands of ochre paintings on rocky outcrops. The research team cataloged 3,223 images using drone photogrammetry and traditional photography. Interestingly, the proportions of animal bones found in nearby excavations do not align with the frequency of animals depicted in the art. This suggests that the ancient artists did not simply paint the animals they commonly ate. The animal bones revealed a varied diet including fish, small to large mammals, and reptiles such as turtles, snakes, and crocodiles... History photography More than 800 years ago, with no tools, technology and electricity, an army of nameless artisans created many temples. This photo is only a small part of a lady's sculpture. Focus on the fingers, nails and the rest minute details. Can we do it now? #historyphotographed #indianhistory #historyofindia #archeologyofindia #archeology

You might be wondering, Why The Photo Archaeologist? 🤔 Well, I’ve realized that my passion lies in digging deeper—not just into boxes of photos and memorabilia, but into the stories behind them one photo at a time, and helping others to preserve those stories for generations to enjoy and learn from too. The process feels a little like archaeology: 🪲 Dusting off forgotten treasures. 🕰️ Piecing together the who, what, when, and where. 📖 Curating the stories that bring your ancestors to life (well, not literally, but you know what I mean 😂). But don’t worry—it’s not all serious business. Humor is a vital tool in archaeology (and life), so we’ll have some laughs along the way. Let’s make this fun, personal, and unforgettable! Who’s ready to start digging? #FamilyHistory #LegacyStories #PreserveYourPast #ThePhotoArcheaologist Photo: @free_indeed_john8_36

Delve into a repository of carefully curated articles that encapsulate the essence of our commitment to preserving #marine #ecosystems. From our section Research and Monitoring 😎 An extensive 14-year study using benthic #surveys and #photographic #records has revealed a stunning richness of sea slug diversity around the island of Koh Tao, Thailand. A staggering 191 distinct species across the orders Sacoglossa (14 species), Cephalaspidea (23 species), Aplysiida (5 species), Pleurobranchida (3 species), and Nudibranchia (146 species). Among these, seven species are the first of their kind reported in the Gulf of Thailand, while an additional 115 species represent the first records for Thailand as per current literature. Amongst the 5,298 objects recently transported by the Stores Move team to our new off-site store at the Centre for Material Culture were a number of free-standing pots. After carefully being driven across Cambridge by our Workshop Technicians they were ready to be unpacked and moved to their new places on shelving in the archaeology section of the store. A real team effort! #StoresMove #CollectionsCare #BehindTheScenes Video description: Hyper-lapse of a crate being unloaded from a van, wheeled through the store, and then partially dismantled so pots can be removed from it. Captions on screen read: “Our Stores Move team moving some more free-standing pots. This means they need to use this large crate. The crate layers need to be taken apart before the pots are removed. Acid free packing protecting the pots during their journey is then removed. Finally, the pots can be moved to their new homes on shelving in the archaeology area of the new off-site store.” The end card reads "MAA Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology" and features the museum’s logo.

🪲Chlaenius spoliatus P. ROSSI, also known as the grooved shield beetle, is a member of the ground beetle family (Carabidae) with a body length of up to 17 mm. Its body shimmers in metallic copper-green or green with a bright yellow edge on the elytra. The underside of the body is black. The pits near the base on the pronotum are extensive and deep. The thighs and shins are yellow, while the feet are yellowish-brown. The first three segments of the antennae are yellow, with the remaining segments darker. 🌍The grooved shield beetle is a Palearctic species, with a range extending from the Iberian Peninsula (Europe) in the west to Japan and China in the east. It is also observed in North Africa and occurs in Iraq. 🏕Chlaenius spoliatus favors moist and marshy areas, such as the banks of rivers, lakes, ponds, and damp forests. This beetle is nocturnal, hiding during the day under stones, leaves, or pieces of wood. 🍝The grooved shield beetle feeds on small insects and their larvae. 🔍In Europe, Chlaenius spoliatus is not considered an endangered species and therefore is not under species protection. #Insect #Beetle #GroovedShieldBeetle #ChlaeniusSpoliatus #Carabidae #GroundBeetles #Entomology #InsectsOfEurope #PalearcticSpecies #NaturePhotography #WildlifeConservation #Biodiversity #MacroPhotography #InsectIdentification #BeetlesOfInstagram #NocturnalInsects #InsectLarvae #Elytra #Pronotum #Biogeography #SpeciesProtection #IberianPeninsula #NorthAfricaWildlife #IraqNature #InsectsOfJapan #ChinaInsects

📸 The power of macro photography in marine science. Exploring the Arctic depths reveals a world usually hidden from the naked eye. As our specimens are brought to the surface, there's a critical moment to capture their vibrant details before preservation. While necessary, chemicals like ethanol and formalin can dull the mesmerizing colours of these creatures 🐠 🔬Macro photography of specimens isn't just a tool for scientists. It shows a world few have ever seen. Take a closer look at the snailfish; notice the small parasite below its cheek captured in extraordinary detail! 🔎 Dive into this minute world with us and the photography of Martin Hartley.
