Queensland Seniors Month wraps up today. It has been a huge month for us servicing this community enabling them freedom and flexibility to stay in their own homes longer. Whilst supporting our aging community is an important function of ours, it is only one feather in a very diverse customer base. We also service the NDIS needs in our community as a registered NDIS provider. iCooked meals can be subsidised through an NDIS plan under Core Supports (Daily Activities) – Assistance with the cost of meal preparation and delivery of meals. Your remote teams, mobile workers & contractor workers throughout South Queensland & Northern New South Wales can also enjoy our meals. Did you know that the provision of meals to employees by an employer, if provided on-site (at workplace) and the purpose is not for social reasons, is tax deductible and no fringe benefits apply. (This was general advice only, please check with your own accountant regarding your specific eligibility for tax deductibility based on your business circumstances.) Finally, if you are looking for ways to demonstrate your commitment & implementation of the "MANAGING THE RISK OF PSYCHOSOCIAL HAZARDS AT WORK CODE OF PRACTICE" in your business, our meals have the potential to: - Control or reduce psychosocial risks - Promote self-care & balance - Support workers in remote workplace or on shift rosters. For a small business producing delicious and wholesome meals right here in Toowoomba, we're making incredible impact. Remember the words of Paul Kelly "From little things, big things come". Give us a call or reach out to find out how we can help you. https://lnkd.in/gfFSMghA #HomeCareProvider #RegisteredNDISProvider #PsychoSocialHazards #RemoteWorkers #ShiftWorkers

👩⚕️ Sam Lewis at Home Care Insight reports on the Welsh Minister for Social Care, Dawn Bowden, launching a new National Office for Care and Support. This is the first part of the plan to implement the National Care Service, a shared priority in the Co-operation Agreement between the Welsh Government and Plaid Cymru. 🗣️ Dawn Bowden said, “The number of people aged 85 and over in Wales is projected to increase by more than 65 per cent over the next 20 years—it is to be celebrated that we are living longer, but it also means we need to radically rethink how we care for our older population.” 💡 Implementing a national care service could streamline care delivery across Wales, enhancing efficiency and the quality of care. However, the challenges are substantial. The transition involves significant complexities in integrating social services. Moreover, adapting to local needs could be difficult, risking a one-size-fits-all approach that might not suit everyone’s needs. Despite these hurdles, a national care service offers a promising pathway for improving care. #adultsocialcare #nationalcareservice #wales https://lnkd.in/eAFDe4ui

Many factors together can have a positive effect on helping a social care worker stay in social care. The new Values-Based Retention Toolkit from the Social Care Council introduces five approaches providing ‘good practices’ that, if tailored to an organisation, can support staff retention. If you are trying to innovate in health and social care, what are you hoping to hear over the six weeks? 🗳 Now that election season is officially underway, there will be an avalanche of policy conversations and one that will never get its fair share of attention is the crisis in social care. Why? Because it is hard to think about and hard to solve; it is also intimately connected to other challenging policy areas such as the skills gap, our ageing population, immigration, an exhausted NHS and buckling local authorities. However, it is something an incoming government must address immediately and relentlessly until we are assured dignity and thriving lives for the millions of citizens who need long-term care. One recent project I'm most proud to have worked on focused on trying to address some of these challenges. Dare to Care was run in partnership with Lancashire County Council, Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Nyby. Last year Healthwatch Lancashire published their report on how Dare to Care successfully utilised volunteers interested in careers in care to connect with care homes using Nyby's platform and it contains useful recommendations for anyone trying to innovate in this vital but difficult space. https://lnkd.in/eD4ka8DH #generalelection #UKpolitics #caresector #carecrisis #publicaffairs #healthandsocialcare

Time to make a stand. Social care touches all of us, whether it’s through someone we know who receives care, someone who needs it, or someone who works in this vital sector. Yet, the social care system is crumbling—not because of the incredible people working within it, but because of a lack of funding and political attention. Social care is professional, preventative, and absolutely pivotal in enabling and empowering those who rely on it. Unfortunately, many associate social care with negative stories or crisis points, which devalues the profession and prevents people from accessing support when it’s needed most. But these issues can be addressed—with respect, clear direction, and adequate funding. This isn’t just a local government problem—it’s a central government issue. The people who allocate budgets, set policies, and establish the vision for social care need to take responsibility. Ask yourself: if a provider is paid just £15/hour to deliver social care services, how can they afford quality training, proper PPE, fair staff wages, recruitment, retention, spot checks, and competency checks? They simply can’t. It’s time to address the root cause. Providers Unite is coordinating a Day of Action on 25th February, and the time to act is now. Educate yourself. Speak up. Come together. Social care services are something we will all rely on at some point in our lives. Let’s make sure they’re there when we need them. #dayofaction #carematters #socialcare #futureofcare
