Reflecting on my time at the Fairmont Royal York, I realize how much this culinary journey has shaped me. It hasn't always been easy — there have been moments of tension, especially when faced with the challenge of working in a high-pressure environment, and sometimes even facing negativity and hostility from those around me. It’s never easy when colleagues don’t support you or when team dynamics feel strained. But through these difficult moments, I’ve learned valuable lessons about resilience, patience, and the importance of staying true to my values. Despite the challenges, I’ve never lost sight of the bigger picture — my commitment to the Accor brand and our mission of delivering unparalleled excellence in every dish and guest experience. There have been times when it felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders, but it was in these moments that I grew the most. I’ve learned that it’s not about avoiding challenges, but about pushing through them, learning, and ultimately coming out stronger on the other side. [#WeAreAccorInvest🙌] Ready for sunshine, warmth, and real Italian exuberance? Meet Vincenzo Lisacchi, General Manager of the ibis Milano Centro.   Vincenzo has built his career on adrenalin. He explains 🎙️: “I studied #hospitality and always wanted to be a hotel #GeneralManager, but I also felt that I needed to discover other businesses before moving to hospitality. So I started my career in mass retail and food service, where things move really fast. 🏰I spent 7 years at Disneyland Paris, I worked in particular in Cinderella’ banquet hall (talk of adrenalin and clients expecting something exceptional!), then I worked my way up to the role of assistant manager in hotels in the amusement park… But I missed #Italy, its sunshine and vibrant culture - I’m from Sicily, it’s in my genes - so when the opportunity came up to join Accor as General Manager in #Milano, in 2003, I grabbed it!   🏨 It's a funny coincidence that I worked in this very same hotel, the ibis Milano Centro, from 2003 to 2013. I then moved to the Novotel Milano Linate Aeroporto, then the ibis & Novotel Milano Ca Granda combo, in parallel with interim missions to support the Mercure Bergamo Palazzo Dolci or the ibis Padua… But you know, the more I do, the more I enjoy it! I finally came back to the ibis Milano Centro in April 2023.” Vincenzo hardly stops to breathe. “I’ve always had a #passion for operations. During my annual appraisal, a few weeks ago, when 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙨𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙮 𝙤𝙗𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨, 𝙄 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 1 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖 𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙢. #Motivation and #recognition – that’s what really matters. Some time ago, when I was working at the combo, my team offered me a plaque engraved with an inscription which is highly meaningful to me: “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁, 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝘀 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿”. Thank you everyone motivating me I am sharing my thoughts with everyone. Never say No when a Guests asks for something even if it is the Moon. You can always try and anyhow there is plenty of time afterwards to explain that it was not possible. Guests will forget what you said, forget what you did however Guests will never forget how you made them feel & The key is to set realistic guests expectations and then not to just meet them however to exceed them preferably in unexpected and helpful ways. And of course What is important is that we make sure to work together that we understand our strength comes from unity and not division. I am lucky that whatever fear I have inside me, my desire to win is always stronger. It always seems impossible until it's done. My believe we are one Ayada Family one Team. Unity is the best power.
