SOIL Engineering was pleased to contribute to the paper coauthored with Eni, titled "Prediction of Drag Anchor Holding Capacity in Weak Rock Seabed and Comparison with Installation Data," presented at the 2024 Offshore Structures Reliability Conference in Houston, Texas, organized by the American Petroleum Institute (API). The conference provided an opportunity to showcase the results of a newly developed approach for assessing the holding capacity of Drag Embedment Anchors in complex seabed conditions, specifically those characterized by medium to highly weathered rock formations.

Precise subsea characterization is a prerequisite to any successful offshore project. Sediment Profile Imaging (SPI) guides key planning decisions and environmental mitigation measures by providing developers with detailed analysis of the various sediment layers found on the seabed. Rated to depths of 4,000 m, SPI technology surveys the physical, chemical, and biological variables found at the bottom of lakes, rivers, and oceans. Sediment Profile Imaging and Plan View (SPI-PV) systems provide users with rapid and detailed insights into the shifting nature of benthic habitats, essential information for assessing dredging footprints and offshore drilling plans, as well as the integrity of any bedrock or bottom layer that might cap potentially contaminated sediments. CSA Ocean Sciences (CSA), together with Tombo Environmental LLC and GSI Environmental Inc., has developed a new web-based SPI data analysis and reporting platform to assist operators with such surveys—SPIDAR-WEB. Find out how SPI can benefit your next offshore project by meeting one of the CSA team Vinicius Oliveira Gorini, Patricia Cotta, or Ian Stupakoff at ROG.e (Rio Oil and Gas) this week— contact comercial@csaco.com.br to schedule a time! #Seathedifference #SedimentProfileImaging #SPI #CSA #seabed

Please join us for our upcoming SPE HyFTS February 2024 Webinar with Dan Dall’ Acqua,P.Eng., Principal Consultant at Noetic Engineering. When: Tuesday, February 13th, 2024 | 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM Central Time (US and Canada) Register in advance for this meeting: https://lnkd.in/g7Dhdz7W After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Abstract: Unconventional resources continue to be considered as major cornerstones of today's energy economy delivery, even in the middle of an ongoing energy transition. Amid this transformative progress, an inconvenient complication that could potentially hinder the economic viability has begun to emerge and be experienced in multi-fractured horizontal wells: casing deformations limiting downhole accessibility. While not compromising well integrity, these deformations can occur prior to, during, or after the execution of fracturing operations and can impede subsequent planned hydraulic fracturing stages and potentially limit access to the well sections deeper than these restrictions. This talk will provide an overview of much of the work published to-date on this subject, including reported statistics from various basins regarding casing deformation, deformation types, and discussion of strategies related to diagnostics, mitigation, and recovery. It will also highlight the ongoing work being done within the SPE Well Integrity Technical Section’s Casing Deformation Work Group and the envisioned way forward to achieving the Work Group’s mission of reducing the impact and increasing the understanding of casing deformations in these applications.

😎 It's time for a #PreWeekendPreview with Oilfield Technology! 🍂 This week we are looking at an article from our Autumn 2023 issue, where Uday Godse, Ph.D., P.E., Wild Well, discusses how advanced engineering can be used to optimise design and operations that augment well control engineering. 💬 "An uncontrolled release of hydrocarbons onshore or offshore can cause a threat to human life, assets and the environment. Knowing the potential hazards is critical to source control emergency response planning (SCERP). The importance of advanced engineering and tools, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD), is becoming increasingly recognised in the oil and gas industry to help better understand hazards." What Is a Thermogeological Assessment? Thermogeological Assessments are a critical element of any closed loop borehole project ensuring that clients have a good understanding of the geology, Drilling Risks & Thermal Conductivity to feed into the design prior to any project getting started. These desktop assessments are generally conducted prior to any drilling works to ensure any issues are highlighted upfront. Aquifer Energy can help provide Thermogeological assessments to provide you with details on: - Thermal Conductivity, average temperature, thermal diffusivity and volumetric heat capacity of underlying formations - Geology from surface to 200m+ - Drilling Risks & Contamination hazards - Summary of the regulatory environment including assessment of requirements for new closed loop environmental permits - Outline recommended borehole depth based on geological constraints A good understanding of the Thermogeology of your site will significantly increase the accuracy of your design when building your ground array as well as prevent unforeseen drilling or regulatory issues. If you like to see an example report, get a quote or find out more information about how Aquifer Energy can help you then please get in touch at lawrence@Aquifer.Energy
