On August 30th, Natural Resources Institute Finland / Luonnonvarakeskus, one of our partners, and Elonkierto co-hosted an inspiring one-day training course in Jokioinen, part of the Boreal Region. As a highlight of Children’s Science Week, this free event engaged around 250 children under 12, focusing on the vital role of soil animals, especially earthworms, in our ecosystems. Led by experts from Luke, the course offered hands-on activities that allowed young participants to learn how to identify and investigate these crucial soil creatures. Set against the backdrop of Elonkierto Park, the event aimed to foster a deep appreciation for nature and sustainable practices among the next generation. At SoildiverAgro, we are proud to support initiatives that inspire and educate young minds about environmental stewardship. For more details on this exciting event, check out the article in our website: https://lnkd.in/drVHG5XP #SoildiverAgro #EnvironmentalEducation #Sustainability #BorealRegion #ChildrenScienceWeeks #SoilHealth

i wonder... webinar RELATING TO BIODIVERSITY THROUGH FOOD 9th October 2024 ; 4:30–5:30 pm Link to join https://lnkd.in/gUQvfmn2 Can exploring local food systems with their families and communities help children connect 'Diversity in the Living World' (Grade VI), 'Crop production and management' (Grade VIII) with 'Mindful Eating' (Grade VI)? Does the diversity of food on their plates open students to their own role in shaping local biodiversity? What knowledge and skills do students learn from such intergenerational collaborations? How can teachers facilitate such experiences? To explore these questions, join the live conversation between Radha Gopalan (author and Consultant Editor of i wonder…) and Vinay Suram (Resource person from the Azim Premji Foundation and editorial committee member of i wonder…) in this webinar. The discussion will be based on the article “Relating to Biodiversity through Food” from the June 2022 issue of i wonder…. The discussion will be in English. Looking for (PhD) positions related to coastal climate adaptation (EbA) and nature-based solutions (NbS) Experience with Mental Models, Environmental Psychology, Marine Social Sciences, Development Studies, Mangrove-EbA

Take part in our short 15-minute online study here, via a laptop or tablet by using Chrome or Firefox: 𝘄𝘄𝘄.𝗲𝗱𝘂.𝗻𝗹/𝘂𝗳𝗷𝗽𝗺 𝘉𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥: Since 1970, species populations have declined by an average of 69%. As this trend continues to accelerate, one million of the world’s estimated 8 million species of plants and animals are threatened with extinction, unless action is taken to reduce the intensity of drivers of biodiversity loss (IPBES, 2019). Sadly, the Netherlands is one of the global leaders of biodiversity loss. That is why Utrecht University has committed to becoming a green campus by 2035 to restore the local biodiversity. For instance, Utrecht University aims to enhance ecological design and maintenance on campus, protect species, and provide education on and research into biodiversity. The research contributes to this objective. It will show how the Utrecht University community views biodiversity, and how these perceptions can be leveraged to take actions to halt and reverse the biodiversity crisis. For further questions, please contact me. (Research Assistant Marcel Pein, m.m.pein@uu.nl).

🌎 #EarthDay was established out of a growing concern about environmental issues such as air and water pollution and their impact on the #planet, human health and species extinction. It was first launched on April 22, 1970 and has been celebrated on the same day every year since then to draw attention to environmental protection and promote awareness of sustainability. 🔎 At Tentamus, we are convinced that #sustainability and quality assurance can only lead society towards a greener future if they are combined. We have a dedicated team of data scientists, artificial intelligence experts, chemists, chemical engineers and project managers that develop concepts to promote the sustainability of your company with regard to ecological and social criteria. In the area of smart farming, for example, we help farms to reduce or recycle waste, manage fields and soils more efficiently and preserve biodiversity. 🪵 In any case, we focus on: - conservation of natural resources - sustainable raw materials - environmentally friendly packaging - transparent supply chains - fair production through compliance with human rights and environmental protection 🌱 The current topics we are addressing include: - Reducing our carbon footprint - Zero food waste - Due diligence in the supply chain - Counteracting the loss of biodiversity 🌾 We work in the following industries: - Food and animal feed - Cosmetics and care products - Pharmaceuticals - Agriculture and soil 📧 Contact us for more information: info.tih@tentamus.com
