🌞 Exciting Developments in Solar Technology! 🌍 Oxford PV, a UK firm, is at the forefront of a solar revolution, producing commercial #solarcells using perovskites. These #innovative cells, dubbed 'tandem' photovoltaics, combine perovskite with silicon, promising increased efficiency and potentially cheaper electricity. The perovskite–silicon tandem cells could deliver at least 20% more power than traditional silicon cells alone, making them a game-changer in the renewable energy landscape. Oxford PV's Chief Technology Officer, Chris Case envisions end-users getting their hands on these #solarpanels by mid-next year. Despite the promising potential, perovskite technology faces challenges, including stability concerns when exposed to moisture, heat, and light. However, ongoing research and projects like the PEPPERONI initiative aim to address these challenges, pushing the boundaries of perovskite–silicon tandem modules. While some skeptics argue that improvements in silicon technology might overshadow perovskites, proponents believe that tandems offer a unique advantage, especially as silicon cells approach peak performance. The race is on to harness the power of perovskite–silicon tandems and potentially transform the solar market. Stay tuned for a greener and more efficient energy future! 🌐☀️ #solartechnology #renewableenergy #perovskite #revolution #greentech #solarpv #solarpanels #innovationindesign #solarinstallation #cleanenergytransition #solarpowered

☀️ When working with #solar technology every performance increase of the cells is fundamental. But equally important is to be able to bring that improvement also at the module level, passing from laboratory to industrial dimensions. A lesson well learned from the British company Oxford PV and the German institute Fraunhofer ISE, developers of full-format tandem photovoltaic modules with unique efficiency. The panels use cells produced by Oxford PV itself. These units are made by depositing a thin perovskite film on a conventional silicon solar cell. The devices, in M6 format, can convert 28.6% of solar energy into electricity, a value that in May last year earned the company a world record. Today the company has launched a first line of tandem cells in Brendenburg for partner panel manufacturers. But the ambition of Oxford PV points high and today amazes with the tandem solar module in silicon-perovskite, glass-glass and industrial format, the most efficient in the world. The scientists of the Fraunhofer ISE realized it using their production laboratory Module – TEC, a unique infrastructure for the manufacture and testing of solar panels. #SENnews #environmnent #globalwarming #greeneconomy #solar #eolic #energy #greenenergy #solarenergy #windenergy #sustainable #sustainabledevelopment

【News-Flash: Researchers have invented new solar cells with world-record efficiency】 According to the industry chain of #photovoltaic, if we want the cost of photovoltaic kWh to decrease, there are several influencing factors: the initial investment cost, operation and maintenance cost, and annual power generation. Generally can be divided into two directions: reducing the use of materials or improving the photovoltaic conversion efficiency. This new research finds: The triple-junction perovskite/Si tandem solar cell can achieve a certified world-record power conversion efficiency of 27.1% across a solar energy absorption area of 1 sq cm (0.155 sq in) “In this recently published work, the researchers experimented on cyanate, a novel pseudohalide, as a substitute for bromide—an ion from the halide group that is commonly used in perovskites. Liu Shunchang, research fellow in Hou’s team, employed various analytical methods to confirm the successful integration of cyanate into the perovskite structure, and fabricated a cyanate-integrated perovskite solar cell. The researchers also tested the newly engineered perovskite solar cell by continuously operating it at maximum power for 300 hours under controlled conditions. After the test period, the solar cell remained stable and functioned above 96% capacity.” Compare to the silicon cells, when chalcogenide batteries more efficient, stable and cost-effective conversion, would the market layout changed?
