Through our partnership with the Chicago Fire FC, we were able to make Mother's Day week that much brighter for families at The Well of Mercy. It was a fun evening cheering on the Fire at Soldier Field! #ASMGlobalActs

Violence doesn't happen in a vacuum. Today marks one year after the Michigan State University shooting killed three, and a day after a shooting at Lakewood Church in Houston. It's a good time to ask: How can I be a part of the solution? Do we truly want to help end gun violence? What is the one step I can take this week? How can I provide better support for those in stressed domestic situations, with mental wellness challenges, or perhaps contemplating suicide? Does my school or business lack a plan to help those in need, or help those when tragedy strikes? Violence doesn't happen in a vacuum. It happens while we are all standing right there watching the car crash happen. I know it's frustrating; I'm right there with you. Maybe people need to better secure their guns or advocate for a legislative solution. Let's make some progress today. Let's do it for all the lives lost and for those thousands impacted by gun violence. I know we can. https://lnkd.in/gFuGf4kT #stopthekilling #violenceprevention #gunviolence #gunsafety #communityimpact #peoplepower
Today we honor the memory of students Arielle Anderson, Brian Fraser and Alexandria Verner as well as all affected by the tragedy that occurred on our campus one year ago. Canadian Armed Forces Transition Group🍁 🇨🇦 Veteran Registered Social Service Worker Silver Cross Recipient & MVF Advocate Proud ARMY Cadet Mom AC Ambassador Breast Cancer Warrior Empowerment begins with Empathy
Absolutely disgusting‼️ Town of Petawawa’s close-knit, caring and resilient Military-Veteran-Family rich community should not and cannot condone this hateful and divisive behaviour. This unacceptable vandalism does not represent us. A hateful display of ignorance and disrespect painted on a street leading to the largest Elementary and Highschool in our community, for which children will walk across on their daily commute. Garrison Petawawa is known as the; “Training Ground of Warriors” where military personnel train to defend and promote 🇨🇦 Canadian values of fairness, inclusion, openness, respect, compassion, diversity, equity and safety. Military families live, work and play in this town and military children attend the school that flanks this beautiful, vibrant and celebratory symbol reflecting the diversity of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, now marked with hate. Our community does not stand for this. If a child is responsible, you have to wonder what the conversations are within the home, or the conversations that aren’t happening. I hope and trust that the town leadership and school faculty will use this disgusting act as an opportunity for meaningful discussions to identify ways our community can promote allyship to our 2SLGBTQIA+ identifying family members, friends, neighbours, classmates and colleagues. This is not ok. 🔎 For my fellow Public Service employees, click here for educational resources on how you and your team can act as allies to the PRIDE community and initiate change-focused discussions in your workplace; https://lnkd.in/em-T7rh2 🏳️🌈❤️🏳️🌈💛🏳️🌈💚🏳️🌈💙🏳️🌈❤️🏳️🌈💛🏳️🌈💚🏳️🌈💙🏳️🌈❤️

We love our kids, but vote and enact policies like we want them to suffer and die. I like Kristof's first suggestion most for the near-term fix (below). For the longer-term fix, we need intact communities in villages (2,000-10,000 people), based on a stable, local, life-giving economy. "An early child care program modeled after the one that exists in the United States military. If our armed forces can operate a child care program with fees based on ability to pay, then the rest of the country can as well. A government-supported early childhood program rescues parents and kids alike. Roughly one child in six is living with a parent who misused drugs in the last year, and some of these children can find a lifeline in a high-quality program like Educare that also coaches parents. Other rich nations spend an average of about 29 times as much on child care per toddler as the United States." Link in comments.

Today is LOAD day. That means my household goods (HHG) go on a moving truck today. **We’ve moved 3 of the past 4 summers. This is the third move in just 36 months.** My load team doesn’t start until after lunch, so I’m at elementary school celebrations with our oldest. (He is leaving his 4th school as he finishes 5th grade). Just to the left of this picture is 100 kids yelling and laughing and bowling and loving their last days together- many of whom are also military kids. **Our story is not unique. It’s like so many of our peers.** When I #advocate for quality of life for #militaryfamilies, I’m advocating for moments of stability and normalcy. Moments to attend field trips and create regular childhood memories. Because being a military family is hard enough without needing to worry about basic needs like putting food on the table. Sadly, for 1 in 4 active duty families serving our country, they’re balancing this chaotic life with the reality of #foodinsecurity (aka not sure if they can put enough food on the table tonight). **If you’d like to know how to help military families facing food insecurity, check out MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), National Military Family Association, Stronghold Food Pantry, or Military Family Advisory Network for the most urgent policy changes, community connection ideas, and latest research.

#September11: Remembering and Honoring. Today, September 11th, we commemorate the anniversary of one of the most impactful events in recent history. The attacks on the Twin Towers in New York City changed the world as we knew it, leaving an indelible mark on our collective memory. On this solemn day, we come together to pay tribute to the 2,977 lives lost and the thousands injured. We remember not only the direct victims but also their families, friends and all those whose lives were forever altered. 9/11 taught us about: 1. Resilience: The ability of New York and America to recover and rebuild. 2. Unity: How tragedy can bring people together beyond differences. 3. Heroism: The countless acts of bravery by first responders and ordinary citizens. As we reflect on this day, it's crucial that we keep alive the spirit of solidarity and compassion that arose from the ashes. In our workplaces and communities, we can honor the victims by continuing their legacy of courage and determination. I invite everyone to share their reflections and keep the memory of those we lost alive. Together, we can build a stronger, more united future. #NeverForget #Resilience #Unity

Today, we pause to remember 9/11 and honor the lives that were lost and forever changed. It’s been 23 years, but the impact of that day is still felt deeply. We think about the incredible bravery of the first responders, firefighters, police officers, and everyday people who stepped up without hesitation, risking everything to help others. The sacrifice they made is something we can never fully repay, but we will never forget. What stands out the most from that day, beyond the pain and loss, is how people came together. Strangers helped one another without question. Communities rallied to support those in need. In the midst of so much darkness, there was also a strong sense of unity and shared humanity. As we reflect today, we honor the memory of those who are no longer with us and the courage of those who showed up in unimaginable ways. Let’s remember the lessons of 9/11 – about kindness, resilience, and how, even in the worst of times, we’re stronger together. We will never forget. #September11 #9/11 #unitedwestand #neverforget #heroicacts #firstresponders #compassion #honorthefallen #sharedhumanity #bravery #heroesof911 #wewillneverforget #togetherwerise #communitysupport #togetherwearestronger
