At Operation Gateway, advocacy is at the core of all we do. We are staffed with Community Health Workers and one of the primary components of effective community health work is TRUST!!! How do you keep the flame of trust burning??? T R A N S P A R E N C Y Check out our year to date graphic. You will see how we use our resources. We have served 167 members and this is how the money spends!!! We are wide open with it because we love our community and we appreciate all of our partners. We do our best to connect with the case managers in the prison but they are short staffed and we work around by way of in reach process that OG COOP created in partnership with Brent Bailey at the Local Reentry Council and we also get community referrals from family members and other partners that provide services. We do what we have to do and CHWs are experts at figuring it out. IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW!!! We don’t just talk about “wraparound services,” we do this. Practical, tangible tactics!!! It’s only the beginning! #reentry #prisonreform #reformreentry #equity #access #impact #transparency #flyhighisaaccolemen #vayastrong #healthyopportunitiespilot #oghop #impacthealth #impactrecidivism #stigmaslayers #sdoh #minoritymentalhealthawarenessmonth #mentalhealthishealth

Community mental health is a significant part of the mental health system. Unfortunately, years of underfunding have resulted in significant wage gaps. These organizations receive funding from the government, similar to hospitals and other areas of healthcare, to provide care, and they too are limited by government restrictions on spending funds, on wage increases, one-time funding, etc. The significant wage gap that exists between community mental health and roles in schools, hospitals, justice, and even private sector (including virtual care), has seen a departure from community mental health for higher paying roles, and a challenge to recruit and retain staff. All this at a time when the demand for mental health is greater than ever. All this at a time that integrated care where community care, acute care, and social support organizations work in partnership to create a healthcare system that works for the populations it serves is a focus of the Government. It is time for a plan that closes the gap, that recognizes the value of community health, and ensures that people are able to get the care they need close to home, in their communities, when they need it. #CloseTheGap #CommunityMentalHealth #Wages
A coalition of 10 community health associations, including AMHO, came together to collect compensation data from our members to support HHR advocacy. We completed a market review of 79 benchmark jobs that are found across the community health and broader health sector. A large wage gap was identified for roles in the community health sector compared to their equivalents in other sectors like acute care, hospitals and schools. Over the past month, the CEOs of the associations have been meeting with various government stakeholders to share the results of the report, and advocate for investment to close this gap in the community health sector.
