According to the "Lijin Release," the 250,000-ton annual lithium battery electrolyte solvent project of WEIYUAN Chemical Co., ltd. (600955) in #Lijin County, Dongying City, Shandong Province, has recently been completed. With a total investment of 2.16 billion yuan, this project is a major undertaking in Shandong Province for 2023. It employs advanced, novel, and highly efficient heterogeneous catalysis technology, utilizing propylene oxide and carbon dioxide tail gas byproducts from existing chemical plants as raw materials to produce carbonate #solvents for lithium battery #electrolytes. The junior explorer Eloro Resources has set itself the goal of covering at least 10% of global tin demand with its Iska-Iska open-pit project in Bolivia at a later date, in addition to the significant silver, zinc and lead deposits. Tin is a critical metal with potential. The metal is an essential component in the electronics industry, especially as a solder in appliances. The growing demand for electronic devices and renewable energies could significantly increase the demand for tin in the coming years and decades. In particular, the electric vehicle and battery industry as well as nanotechnology and the development of even more powerful energy storage systems could drive demand for tin, as tin can be used as a material in batteries for improved conductivity and stability. The global tin supply is heavily dependent on countries such as Indonesia, China and Peru. Political instability or regulatory changes could have a major impact on the future supply.
