Calling all #RNs and #NPs out there! Have you ever wondered what #productmarketfit (#PMF) means? It is a common term in the #healthcarestartup world. Like many abstractions, it is often misunderstood. Our Founder and CEO, Joseph Harrison MSN, NP-C talks about this pretty often with #healthcareinvestors and with our #nurseentrepreneurs. At Avail Health, we offer two distinct types of Product: The first Product (call it a "consumer" Product) creates, manages and grows #privatepractices for #registerednurses and #nursepractitioners who want to serve #medicarerecipients; to provide #seniorcare in order to realize #healthequity and #improvedclinicaloutcomes, and to enable #seniors to #ageinplace. The second Product, well, set of Products actually, are #caredelivery Products. We provide #geriatrictelepsychiatry and #behavioralhealthcaremanagement. We also provide in-home #nursingassessments for various uses. To compliment those Products, we offer #geriatrictelemedicine for our #behavioralhealth patients who often aren't able to get seen by their #pcp and might end up in the #emergencydepartment without timely clinical care. What is fit? PMF is the degree to which a product or service meets the needs of a specific market. How do we know if you have pmf? It shows very clearly in how easy it is to gain and retain "customers". Well, in the first type of Product we offer at Avail Health, the customers are RNs and NPs. We are very early as a company, so we have lots to learn about pmf for our practice creation, management and growth product. What we already know is that with no advertising, only two info-sessions and a few telephone conversations we are currently creating four private #RN practices and have 2 #PMHNP practices, a #GeriatricNP practice and a hybrid PMHPNP-#FNP practice all in the pipeline to be created this fall. That seems like pretty good PMF! What about our clinical products? In this case, our customers vary; there are #valuebasedcare payers/insurance companies, #primarycareproviders / #primarycareorganizations and #agetech companies. So far, the signs are really encouraging. #Accesstocare for behavioral health indications in #medicare and #medicareadvantage continues to be appaullingly difficult. And this is true despite #dementia and #geriatricmentalillness being significant drivers of #inpatientutilization. In other words, payers desperately need the solutions we offer and so do the other companies that are providing #clinicalservices and #iadl services as well. If you are an RN or NP who is excited by the idea of independent practice for under-served communities, please reach out at info@availhealthcare.co. If you represent a payer, a care-delivery org or an agetech company and want to partner, please contact our CEO at joe@availhealthcare.co . #nursesonlinkedin #nurseapproved #availyourself #inittowinit #dontdoBHalone #teambasedcare

Our team at CBSI has recently been talking about what the "Top Ten" issues are that nursing home business offices face and how we can enhance our products to help hurdle those challenges. So - I have had this in the back of my mind the last few weeks as I serve our current clients and try to get our products out to new clients. I would have to say one of the top ten problems I have recorded in the last few weeks is the disconnect between leadership and the facilities. I have at least 3 companies right now where their staff is desperate for support with their Consolidated Billing - they have received little to no training, they have no reliable resource to ask questions to and they are for sure losing revenue due to overpaying claims, paying claims they should not be and in some cases, even paying duplicate claims. Then, they either welcome a new team member that has used SNFCB before, learn about us from one of State Association conferences or from a friend in the industry and attempt to bring to their leadership... but there is such a huge gap in the communication of the company that the SNF cannot locate the correct contact, or the correct contact will not make time to consider the system - instantly dismissing. Creating a system where leadership is approachable is so important. What is the point of identifying the problems and finding solutions a SNF may be facing if employees reach a dead end every time they try to report back? How do you make sure your employees have their voices heard when they have a an idea to improve? Let me know in the comments below how your company helps employees have their ideas and voices heard! #leadership #skillednursing #medicarebilling #businessofficemanagers #skillednursingfacilities #longtermcare

Report: Inpatient Hospitalizations for Workers’ Compensation Claims Costs Have Fallen in California - https://lnkd.in/gj5GfHMr According to a report from the Claims Journal, inpatient hospitalizations for workers’ compensation cases are down approximately 50% in California from 2012 to 2022. The change is driven by several different factors, including a drop in overall workers’ compensation claims and an overall increase in outpatient procedures. Within this article, our Bakersfield workers’ compensation defense lawyer provides a more detailed overview of the report. CWCI Study: In-Patient Workers’ Compensation Costs Dropped Dramatically from 2012 to 2022 The California Workers’ Compensation Institute (CWCI) published the results of a comprehensive report on inpatient hospitalizations for workers’ compensation cases in the state over the past decade. The study—which analyzed nearly 30 million inpatient stays from 2012 to 2022—revealed a significant decline in workers' compensation inpatient stays. The total number dropped from 21,505 in 2012 down to 10,516 in 2022. This 11-year span saw a total decrease of 51.1%. An Overview of the Reasons Why the Authors Believe Inpatient Hospitalizations Fell The authors attribute the decline in inpatient hospitalizations under workers' compensation to several key factors. Here is an overview of the reasons why the authors believe that the number of inpatient hospitalizations for workers’ compensation fell so sharply in California over the last decade: Reduced Workers’ Compensation Claims Volume: To start, the reduced volume of workers’ compensation claims plays a significant role. Over the last decade, there have been some notable improvements in workplace safety in California. Work injury claims volume is down. Of course, employers can benefit from putting strong safety practices in place to reduce the risk of accidents at their workplace. Adoption of Utilization Review Regulations: Next, the adoption of utilization review (UR) regulations has significantly impacted the number of inpatient hospital stays. UR processes evaluate the necessity of medical services—thereby ensuring that hospital admissions and treatments are medically justified. CWCI assesses that these regulations have led to more rigorous scrutiny of the need for inpatient services. More Availability and Better Outpatient Services: The availability of better and more accessible outpatient services has also contributed to the decrease in inpatient hospitalizations. Advances in medical technology and treatment methods have expanded the possibilities for outpatient care, allowing many conditions that previously required hospital stays to be treated on an outpatient basis. Major Drop in Number of Spinal Fusions: Finally, a major drop in the number of spinal fusions—a complex surgery—has been o
