Why We Sail. Reflecting on the honor of filming this with The Polynesian Voyaging Society and legendary Native Hawaiian navigator Nainoa Thompson, as we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. At the time of filming the Hikianalia had arrived in California after an important 2,800 mile journey from Hawai’i to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change and rising sea levels. She and her sister vessel Hōkūle’a are currently preparing for the relaunch of Moananuiākea Voyage’s Pacific Circumnavigation - a global education campaign that amplifies the importance of Indigenous cultures and ocean knowledge through storytelling and education. The American Association of Geographers has announced Nainoa Thompson as this year’s Honorary Geographer. The Sound Off Team were lucky to recently attend a special screening of HIFF-winning short ‘Hōkūle’a: Finding The Language of the Navigator’ directed by Ty Sanga, which shines a light on the legacy of this important vessel and its team. https://lnkd.in/gsupigqn #aapiheritagemonth #pacificislander #hawaii #circumnavigation

Sophie Morgan, leads our entertainment development and is an award-winning factual producer, who has developed shows for major networks. And Korri Palmer, Associate Production Coordinator, joined us in January bringing her diverse skillset to support both production and development creative. Sound Off Films is hiring for a part time Associate Coordinator Role to collaborate with both our development and production teams. This position will initially work across Development and Production, but plan to eventually have the opportunity to focus on one or the other at a full time capacity. Sound Off is kicking off 2024 with production on a series of projects and expect more to move into production in the coming months. We are looking for someone who is excited to grow with the company and stay long term. Someone interested in editorial and Non-Fiction Entertainment is a must. Job Responsibilities - Managing day to day operations of the company including scheduling calls, drafting & sending emails, and coordinating internal communication - Updating internal tracking system to reflect pitch statuses, production statuses, and ongoing communications with outside collaborators - Support in building production budgets and pitch decks - Supporting production paperwork on ongoing productions - Working with producers to stay across cashflows and EP reports - Conducting research for development purposes - Attend meetings with commissioners and collaborators, take meeting notes, and support follow up - Manage production work flows including onboarding, budgets, equipment, post production, and coordination of general production procedures - Attend development meetings/think tanks and contribute meaningful ideas Preferred Job Skills & Qualifications - Brings a unique perspective to our team and slate of projects - Has at least one prior year of experience in the entertainment industry (scripted or unscripted) - Open to travel in the future - Located in the Los Angeles, New York or Miami area - Command of Microsoft Suite, Google, Slack, Canva - Basic Knowledge of Adobe Please submit resumes and cover letters to info@soundoff.co and cc anisa@soundoff.co by Friday, December 15, 2023 to be considered for this position starting mid-January.
