When Kendra Bailey speaks about advocating for themselves and other people with disabilities, a strong sense of pride is unmistakable. After working with several nonprofits serving marginalized groups, Kendra met with a site supervisor at Relay Resources and decided that “this is a place I need to be.” Now, Kendra is an employee success coach at the organization, and uses their voice to advocate for the disability community. Why did I start the disability inclusion campaign? Because I used to be a parent carer and I know how hard that is… Because I used to have a child with a disability and I know how hard that is… Because discrimination was happening: children with disabilities were being ignored, excluded and turned down help. I know how hard it feels to be in this situation. Because policy need to be changed, to help children with disabilities and their parent-carers struggling with the cost-of-disability-crisis in the cost-of-living-crisis.
