It's Disability Employment Awareness Month, an initiative launched by the U.S. Office of Disability Employment Policy. We're thrilled to join the conversation and share some of our best practices! More than 1/4 of all people in the US have a disability, so it's high time for companies to prioritize creating accessible workplaces. Not sure where to start? Have you ever considered that not all people who identify as having a disability agree on how to think or talk about disability? We believe in understanding and championing the diversity of our disability community for the benefit of those within it, and outside of it. We talked to Relay Resources CEO Dr. Jennifer Camota Luebke about the different ways to think about disability and the variety of approaches in talking about and understanding disability diversity. Dive into this topic on our blog and share your own perspective below. https://loom.ly/czVEO-w [ ID: The graphic features an illustration of a group of people with vith visible disabilities. Did you know that for as little as $300 you can make your workplace more physically inclusive That's the average cost for one workplace accommodation. EXAMPLES Larger screens Adjustable height desks Make captioning the default for virtual meetings. Softer lighting Noise reduction panels Make outlets easy to reach Position tables, desks and counters at wheelchair height ⭐ What additional workplace accommodations would you suggest? See our toolkit for additional suggestions > https://loom.ly/Oj3vlp4 [ ID: Image one shows a blind woman in an office meeting using an audio device to follow along. Approximately 27% of the population has some sort of disability and within this large minority we see some of the highest rates of unemployment.
