We believe that professionals are important allies for families. We believe that shared wisdom, counsel, respect and support creates enhanced positive outcomes for children. We value diversity and celebrate our commitment to serving families in many forms. We believe in supporting the role of the family in establishing public policy, and promoting public awareness related to families and disabilities. 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 💙✨ 🚀I'm on a mission to amplify the voices of special needs children, and I invite you to join this transformative journey. Standing firm for equity, diversity, and inclusion is not just a commitment; it's a promise to make a meaningful impact. 🤔 Think about it: we all have someone in our circles – a neighbor, a church member, a relative, a colleague – living with unique abilities. It's time to lend our voices and create a lasting impact in their lives. How do we treat these special children in our communities, churches, and neighborhoods? Let's debunk the myths; being a special child is not a disease. They're different but certainly not less. Our collective efforts can contribute to a positive change in their lives and the lives of their families. ɪ ᴄʜᴀʟʟᴇɴɢᴇ ʏᴏᴜ: ʙᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴇᴀꜱᴏɴ ɴᴏ ᴄʜɪʟᴅ ᴡɪᴛʜ ꜱᴘᴇᴄɪᴀʟ ɴᴇᴇᴅꜱ ᴏʀ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ꜰᴀᴍɪʟʏ ꜰᴇᴇʟꜱ ᴜɴᴀᴄᴄᴇᴘᴛᴇᴅ. 🤝ʟᴇᴛ'ꜱ ꜱᴛᴀɴᴅ ᴛᴏɢᴇᴛʜᴇʀ ꜰᴏʀ ᴀ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ɪɴᴄʟᴜꜱɪᴠᴇ ᴀɴᴅ ᴄᴏᴍᴘᴀꜱꜱɪᴏɴᴀᴛᴇ ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ💪💙 #VoiceForChange #InclusionMatters #problemsolver #20daylinkedinchallengewithhaoma #growth #specialneedsadvocate #disabilityrights

🔊 Don't miss out on this insightful #ThrowbackThursday conversation! In this video, we sit down with Dr. Jeffery interviewing Ron Haskins to discuss the importance of collaboration and partnership in addressing the needs of low-income fathers and families. We start by expressing our gratitude to all attendees of the conference and acknowledge the crucial question many are asking: "What can I do when I return to my community?" Dr. Jeffery emphasizes the need for responsible fatherhood, healthy marriage, domestic violence prevention, and workforce development initiatives to come together. He references the Rodney King refrain, "Can't we all get along?" and stresses the importance of unity in serving families. While acknowledging that proposed policies may differ from what's been funded in the past, he advocates for encouraging partnerships, such as those around the Julia Carson bill and Innovation Fund, to move forward positively. We delve into the challenges and conflicts that may arise and the urgency of working together. Dr. Jeffery expresses concern that without collaboration, resources could be wasted and the focus on promoting and sustaining marriage may be lost. We invite you to watch the entire video until the end and share your thoughts in the comments below! Don't forget to follow NPCL for more valuable content and share this video with your community. And to continue the conversation and make a difference in the lives of children and families! "Your actions, big and small, are powerful in the life of EVERY child in your community." Seaseme Workshop has put together a "Room to Grow: Resources for Racial Justice" that classroom teachers and families can use to begin the conversations with young children. The resource allows adults to think about their own levels of comfort, and where they want to go in the development and support of children and families in their care! https://loom.ly/MrlGWuk Through the resource, you’ll discover ways to inspire little ones’ curiosity and wonder for the world around them by: 1️⃣Recognizing the important role that adults play in addressing race and racism with children 2️⃣Drawing upon families’ strengths 3️⃣Exploring ways to model kindness within communities. #Headstart #Headstartteacher #Headstartworks #Headstartprogram #EarlyHeadstart #EarlyChildhoodEducation #EarlyChildhood #getaheadstart #EarlyChildhoodeducator #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment #EarlyChildhoodlearning #Ohio #Ohiogram #OhioEducation #OhioStrong #Ohiomade #UniteforHeadStart #NHSA #OhioHeadstart #OHSAI #FirstFiveYears

#WorldAutismAwarenessDay is a moment to recognize and celebrate the important contributions of autistic people in every country and community. But around the world, they continue to confront barriers to their fundamental rights to education, employment and social inclusion. Governments must invest in stronger community support systems, inclusive education and training programmes, and accessible and technology-based solutions to enable people with autism to enjoy the same rights as others. Scaling-up support and investment in countries and communities requires working hand-in-hand with persons with autism and their allies. Today and every day, let’s unite to realize their rights, and ensure an inclusive and accessible world for all.

Last week, Equinet organised a workshop on "How can Equality Bodies support de-institutionalization from a multi-ground perspective?". Here are the key insights: ▪️ De-institutionalization goes beyond mere structures; it's about reinstating autonomy, choice, and self-determination for vulnerable groups, spanning persons with disabilities, older individuals, children, and those grappling with mental health concerns or homelessness. ▪️ Equality Bodies stand as pivotal gatekeepers in this transition, safeguarding rights as we pivot towards community-based care. This isn't solely about disability; it's about fostering independent living for all. ▪️ It is crucial to support international and national efforts advocating for the right to independent living, pertinent for individuals of all backgrounds residing in institutional settings. Over 1 million children and adults with disabilities, along with 2 million individuals aged 65+, live in institutions across Europe. 💡It's a call to action! The EU's commitment to promoting inclusive participation and transitioning towards community-based care is imperative. Equality Bodies, as national watchdogs, are pivotal in championing this process. A big thank you to all the speakers and participants! 🔗Read more: https://lnkd.in/esJSd8RG

CREATING EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES Empowering intellectually disabled individuals to advocate for themselves is a powerful way to promote their rights and inclusion. This means facilitating the creation of groups where intellectually disabled people can come together, share their experiences, and advocate for their rights. It follows that providing training in leadership, public speaking, and confidence building is important.
