We had an enriching working exchange with colleagues scientists from Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) which is implementing six unique services in GMES Africa by seamlessly integrating #EarthObservation and in-situ data to better understand the marine ecosystem of our planet. 🌍 - Ship Traffic Monitoring 🚢 - Sea Rescue 🆘 - Aquaculture Service 🐟 - Fisheries Service 🎣 - Coral Bleaching 🌊 - Coastal Ecosystems 🏝️ These services aren't just cutting-edge—they're saving lives and preserving resources across the southern bioregions, spanning the Indio-Pacific, Atlantic, West Indian Ocean, Agulhas, and beyond. According to the latest World Economic Forum report (2021), the economic value of EO data and services in Africa exceeds a staggering $2 billion annually, playing a pivotal role in supporting the Blue Economy. We're dedicated to continuing our fruitful partnership with #CSIR, working hand in hand to unlock the full potential of EO services for the benefit of our society #GMESAfrica #Collaboration #Innovation Brice MONTFRAIX Sives Govender African Union

Ph.D. in Radar Remote Sensing | SAR Application Development | PolSAR | InSAR | PS-InSAR | Machine Learning | Image Processing
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗼-𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀? This week, I attended an international summit where a panel of experts on space technology discussed how to use space technology to resolve geo-political issues. During the discussion, one of the panelists mentioned, that they are monitoring destruction in Gaza by using Remote Sensing and he refers to this as the Hamas-Israel war❗❗❗ I believe to resolve geo-political issues using space technology, the first and most important thing is to use historically correct terminologies for geo-political issues. The following terminologies to address current situations in Gaza are completely baseless and wrong: - 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘀-𝗜𝘀𝗿𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗪𝗮𝗿 (❌) - 𝗚𝗮𝘇𝗮-𝗜𝘀𝗿𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗪𝗮𝗿 (❌) 78 years ago, there was no such country named Israel (for details refer to the map), this country is a result of systematic land theft and illegal occupation of Palestine. Hence the correct terminology that correctly describes the current situation in Gaza is: - 𝗜𝘀𝗿𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 (✅) #Palestine #SpaceTechnology #GeoPoliticalIssues #InternationalSummit #SpaceTech #RemoteSensing #ConflictResolution #SatelliteMonitoring #GlobalPeace #HistoricalTerminologies #SpaceApplications #PeaceTech #TechForGood #HumanitarianTech #CrisisMonitoring #TechDiplomacy #ConflictAnalysis #SpaceDiplomacy #TechForPeace #RemoteMonitoring #GeoPoliticalConflict #DataForPeace #GlobalSecurity #SpaceData #TechSummit #GeoSpatialIntelligence #CrisisResolution #SpaceForGood #GlobalIssues #HistoricalAccuracy #PeaceBuilding #TechInnovation #SpaceInnovation #PeaceInitiatives #ConflictMonitoring #WorldPeace #SatelliteImagery #SpacePolicy #TechForChange #HumanitarianAid #SpaceAdvocacy
