Dailey Safety Tip for Contractors - Is Your Construction Work Site Prepared for Severe Weather? The implications for contractors whose projects are in areas vulnerable to severe weather (wildfires, flooding, hurricanes, etc.) can be daunting. It can result in loss of life, property damage, and schedule delays. To prepare, you need to have a specific pre-emergency plan that identifies the exposures unique to your project's location and addresses how to best protect construction equipment and personnel. You should have an evacuation plan that lists all available emergency evacuation options for workers, have evacuation routes mapped out, and conduct unannounced practice drills. Be sure that important documents are securely stored, whether paper or digital. Contact your Zurich risk engineer for details on how to prepare for weather emergencies. #severeweather #preparation

In the face of extreme weather challenges on construction sites, preparation is key. Project teams should establish both pre-event and post-event plans to mitigate damage effectively. Preparations include weather tracking, securing materials, implementing protection measures, and clear communication protocols. Post-event actions involve documentation, recovery efforts, and updating plans for future readiness. By being proactive and strategic in coping with weather damage, projects can stay on track despite adverse conditions. --Having successfully implemented CECL, excited to offer consulting and model validation services to financial institutions
Always less than 100% accurate, but we can't completely ignore them either. Of course, I'm talking about forecasts - economic, weather, or other. As #creditriskmanagement and #riskmanagement professionals, we have to pay attention and be prepared. I'm usually referring to economic forecasts, but today weather is on my mind. Maybe because last summer was "rain-fest" or because we had such late snow, I'm watching for spring like a hawk. I don't claim any special understanding of weather - I'm more of a spectator and a fan of temperate, moderate. This summer's outlook caught my eye, and I hope you're considering it too - with unusual, pervasive heat waves predicted for much of the U.S. and many more-than-typical days above 90-degrees. Unlike me, if you love heat you'll likely be happy! Reading further, it's been said that the transition between El Nino and El Nina, and how quickly that occurs, will play a crucial role in how the summer outlook plays out. Here's the kicker - those same dynamics may also exacerbate hurricane season. In financial services, we're used to monitoring and preparing for deteriorating economic conditions. Increasingly, risks posed by severe weather-related events have proven as damaging with their effects realized across larger populations of interconnected communities, commerce, relief resources - including insurance and on-going availability of coverage, etc. Hopefully, you have meaningful ways of assessing weather forecasts and what they could mean for your #loanportfoliorisk. If not, now is a great time to start: 1. Do you have experience with hurricane impacts (or substitute in tornados, floods, wildfires, etc.) in your communities, to your portfolio? 1(a). Collect as much reliable data as you can on how it affected your employees, customers, portfolio, and business operations. 1(b). If not, find someone in your network that does, and seek to understand the impacts. 2. What were the major timelines involved in understanding impact, resolving issues, managing relief, and recognizing losses; what resources were needed through this timeline? 3. What would be the effect if you experienced double or triple the impact this season? What else makes it into your top 5 assessments? https://lnkd.in/gnY9fxZg https://lnkd.in/ggrESi5f #climaterisk
