RICS Awards 2024 We are honoured to have won the National RICS Awards 2024 for Environmental Impact, with our project Athelhampton Zero. It was great to be recognised for this award on such a stage surrounded with so many leading architects and surveyors through the country. Athelhampton House now saves over 100 tonnes of carbon annually and has a carbon zero energy infrastructure. It also saves a vast amount of energy costs. A landmark project which many trusts and organisations and individuals are keen to learn from. It is now 5 out of 5 for awards to this project! Thank you RICS #awards #awardwinning #ricsawards #ricsawards2024 #architects #winningteam #awardwinningarchitecture

The Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry is at the center of one of the greatest challenges of our time—climate change. As buildings account for nearly 40% of global carbon emissions, the industry must evolve to mitigate environmental impact while continuing to meet the growing demands for infrastructure, housing, and urban development.

AIA publishes the 2030 By the Numbers (RY23) annual report. The 2030 Commitment is a global architecture and building industry initiative, aimed at achieving a carbon-neutral future. The 'By the Numbers' report tracks the progress and delineates the strides made by architects and designers towards this ambitious goal. This year’s highlights include 490 signatory firms reporting over 24,000 projects culminating in approximately 3.9 billion gross square feet. Projects reporting embodied carbon almost tripled from the previous year and reported net zero projects jumped to 430 predicted projects, an increase of 24 percent from last year. Architecture 2030 and the U.S. Department of Energy have been longstanding partners to the AIA 2030 Commitment as the program marks a 15-year history. https://lnkd.in/gi7Ai2aj

Most people don't know this, but being "GREEN" and thinking sustainability is programmed into Indians from a very early age. As I have been travelling back and forth to India 4 to 5 times a year for the past 5 years building ISP, I have also adopted many everyday principles which I have learned making me a more sustainable citizen of Earth. Here are some unique ways Indians in a country where 1.3 Billion people live and work every day be more earth friendly: 1. Trash is seperated real time. It's not just recyclables, but also organic Trash is seperated in each household, and building maintenance people deliver the Trash to sites where street dogs, cows, and other animals can eat. Not only this, but on a daily basis many families give their left overs to the local animals who also occupy the streets. Indians understand the importance of street animals and have not only learned to coexist, but really make life with animals a symbiotic relationship. 2. There are no energy codes, occupancy sensors, automatic controls, etc. Instead ever person whether you leave the space for 1 min or 10 hours, feels they have the moral obligation to turn off lights, fans, tvs, etc. Can you imagine the wasted energy if everyone in India left their lights on for even 1 min longer than needed? 3. Many vehicles in India from small cars to public transport work on dual fuel. Petroleum (normally sold around $8 per gallon) is widely used as a secondary fuel and CNG or compressed natural gas (less than 1/2 the cost) is used as the primary fuel. There are numerous other ways sustainability is a part of every day normal life in India. I'm also happy this is becoming more important to Americans and other western countries. I do feel there is a lot more that we can learn from each other. Many of our clients who visit India to work with their design team can also attest to this post. Thank you and Happy Earth Day to all of my fellow Earthlings! Like the great and wise Mr.Spock said.. May we live long and prosper.
Today, on Earth Day, we reflect on our responsibility to protect and preserve our planet. Our #architects and #engineers are passionate about designing #energyefficient structures that not only meet U.S. Green Building Council , ASHRAE , SMACNA and other codes but also contribute to a sustainable future. At ISP, we're honoured to play our part by offering a full range of AEC production support services, including #Title24 compliance and #energymodeling . Together, let's continue to build a better world for generations to come. #SustainableDesign #sustainability #AIA #LeedAP #EarthDay #Sustainability #GreenBuilding #EnergyEfficiency #ISP #USGBC #ASHRAE #SMACNA #AIA The American Institute of Architects (AIA)

ISD Engineering begins the Lunar New Year on the 3rd day of Tet with a project that has earned LEED Platinum certification—the highest level of recognition under the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) rating system for sustainable and green buildings. Notably, this marks only the third project in Vietnam to achieve Platinum certification under the LEED v4 BD+C NC category.

At Powell CWM, we are committed to integrating sustainable practices into every aspect of our work, from land surveying to civil engineering. Our goal is to minimize environmental impact and create infrastructure that serves future generations. As part of this commitment, I earned my Envision Sustainability Professional (Env SP) credential through the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure. Similar to LEED but focused on infrastructure rather than architecture, this credential underscores our dedication to building a more sustainable future. What sustainable practices are you most passionate about in your industry? #sustainability
