What better combination than dogs and football? There is none for our July Volunteer of the Month, travis feeney. Travis is a linebacker with the St. Louis Battlehawks of the United Football League (UFL). The UFL’s headquarters are in Arlington, Texas where all eight teams report for training camp and practice at nearby facilities. During the regular season, teams travel to their home markets for games, but continue to use the Arlington facilities for practice. Travis was one of many players that volunteered when the UFL brought a group to the SPCA of Texas, May 6th. He enjoyed his time so much that he returned the following week and has been volunteering with us since! Travis helped the Volunteer department facilitate a second group from the UFL on May 20th. Travis noted that after talking with Volunteer and Community Impact staff members at the first UFL community event, “I could tell that the SPCA of Texas goals and views align with what I feel, and I wanted to become a part of it. I have been so happy ever since becoming a volunteer.” Read all about it here: https://lnkd.in/gQ5yrbis #VolunteerOfTheMonth #UFL #StLouisBattleHawks #UnitedFootballLeague #SoHappy #PetsAreFamily

Bid Coach 🦊 Helping SMEs win bids & tenders // Bid writing & development // Bid training & coaching // 15+ years of experience
SOCIAL VALUE SYNCHRONICITY 🔁 Nearly all tenders now include questions around social value, which aim to understand how the bidding organisation adds value to the communities in which they operate. Buyers want to work with a supplier who shares their values and which is committed to creating positive local impacts, as well as being able to deliver their project successfully. Social value can include economic, environmental and social factors and often includes a broader recognition of the impact/s that the procurement itself may have in society. SMS Group | Ship Repair | Marine Interiors | Marine Engineering | SC SQEP is evidencing their commitment to social value through a variety of projects, and I'm delighted to be supporting their initiative to engage with, and upskill, their local supply chain. My Bid Skills Workshops will help specialist suppliers and contractors bid for work with SMS Group, and support their delivery of a significant pipeline of works at Devonport Dockyard, for Babcock. My workshops will include content on how bidders can demonstrate social value in their bids for SMS Group, creating some lovely synchronicity around this project. ➡️ Please DM me to register your interest in attending the SMS Bid Skills workshops. #bidwriting #bidskills #socialvalue #plymouth #devon #tenders
As part of our WMPP framework within HMNB Devonport led by Dave Chaffers, Ben Rowe, Paul Downer and Marc (Jooles) Andrew we’re pleased to support numerous #SocialValue initiatives. To include (but not limited to) grassroots rugby, a bid writing workshop - to be hosted by Naomi Fox-Smith, and mock interviews at Ivybridge Community College. #community #engagement #SMS.

Chief Revenue Officer @ Expian | SaaS & TravelTech Commercial Leader | Scaling Revenue, Customer Success, & Growth
The Football Association - you need to do better if you're serious about protecting the grassroots game. In 2021 you released a new grassroots policy, one of the goals of this was to focus on retained volunteers. This policy runs into 2024. "Grassroots workforce: A transformation in community football by inspiring, supporting and retaining volunteers in the game" Like thousands of other grassroots coaches Im a volunteer and have been now for about 5 years. Northumberland Football Association have issued our team a fine for failing to play a fixture at the end of the season. Note: 1) We'd been in regular contact with the other team and were actively trying to rearrange the game - neither party was trying to skip the game 2) YOU decided to cram a load of fixtures into our calendar at the end of a season because YOU voted not to extend the season (even though most coaches wanted to) 3) My players (all kids - under 12) had played on the previous Sunday, Wednesday and Sunday (that's a LOT of competitive football for kids!). 4) We'd already juggled numerous non-football things around to accommodate the new fixtures which YOU did not consult with coaches on before issuing. Seemingly you think Parents, Players and Coaches have no other commitments? Im fortunate that my club has been very supportive. Ive heard from so many coaches who's experience with dealing with The FA at a local and national level is one of incredible frustration. You want to retain coaches? Dont issue fines for events outside of our control. You want to retain volunteers? Try talking to us and stop making rules by committee. All the coaches and volunteers I know do it for the kids and are superstars. You make our jobs harder, not easier Raise your game. Protect grassroots by protecting coaches so we can protect our teams. #grassroots #grassrootsfootball #juniorfootball #thefa #dobetter #volunteering #volunteers

Excel Urgent Care of Howard Beach is honored and proud to be a sponsor of the American Softball program! being a part of our local community is one of the forefronts of our urgent care. We recognize that we all play an important part in what community means, stands for, and represents. Thank you to the American Softball program and thank you for such a lovely plaque. We are proudly displaying it in our urgent care along our Wall of Champions for everyone to see! The American Softball program is an organization for everyone. The American Softball League is a Special Needs Program for Autism and Developmental Disabilities. The players get together once a week to a fun, non-competitive social environment. "The world can be a better place" A little bit about their program: While some people may think their challenges might inhibit them from playing a sport they dreamed of, we prove to them that they can do it and make their dream of playing softball a reality. Every single player gets a chance to hit the ball, run around the bases, and play the field. Before every game, “The Pledge of Allegiance” is recited and then the team sings “The Star Spangled Banner” which inspires the players. The American Softball Organization is dedicated to helping people reach their full potential; mentally, socially and physically. It helps people to increase their social skills while allowing them a chance to play America’s greatest sport. #community #local #smallbusiness #localbusiness #supportlocal #supportsmallbusiness #community #support #nonprofit #volunteer #education #americansoftball #sponsor

I help keep *employees* out of the Emergency Room, and help keep *employers* out of the Courtroom & the Newsroom.
If you know me, you already know my take on this. There are no such things as safe or unsafe 'places' - only safe or unsafe 'people'. Yet another unfortunate example below. Just last year I did two separate 3-hour professional in-service seminars for #churches, #privateschools and #nonprofits on both sides of the DFW area addressing numerous physical, data and reputational concerns for the same at the leadership level. But I also offer the same at the employee/staff and even volunteer level. Even the current #onlinecourse #onlinetraining I offer for "internal/in-house employees" addresses many of the main concerns. But technology can only address so much, especially where 'prevention' (vs. reaction) can be applied prior to such incidents. For any #insurancebroker or #insurancecompany interested in helping clients address the same, let's also talk. I know someone who can help, online and in-person. #defensebydesign

Coming into 2024, I set myself a few simple goals to try and improve myself and the lives of the people around me. One of my personal goals was to continue to do what I love and to finish each of the Abbott World Marathon Majors (Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York). Not only have I been fortunate enough to secure my spot in each race, but I have also been given the opportunity to raise money for a few great organizations. The organizations I will be running for are Boston Scores, Save the Rhino International, and Children for a better World e.V.. The focus of these organizations are to positively mentor the children of Boston both academically and athletically through soccer, to reduce animal poaching, and to provide equal academic and social opportunity to children. That being said… I have set myself the task of fundraising money for each of these organizations and I need your help! This week, for the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs, I will be running football squares. Don’t know how to play? Don’t worry, it’s really easy. How to play: A 10x10 grid will be set up with a different team on each respective axis. On Friday, January 19, 2024, I will randomly generate numbers 0-9 and assign them specific rows and columns. At the end of each quarter, the person whose name occupies the cell with the matching score (ex. If the score is 17-10, the winning square will occur at the intersection of 7 and 0) will win a cash prize. There will be two grids: - AFC board for the Ravens and Texans game ($5/square buy-in) - NFC board for the 49ers and Packers game ($10/square buy-in) All you must do to get involved is Venmo me @Noah-Barney-2 with your square requests and I will enter you into the game. If your square is taken prior to your payment, I will reach back out to you directly to request a square change. The link to the grid (for reference) can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eU36fXpk Payouts: AFC: - Winner of quarters 1-3 - $60 - Winner of the 4th quarter - $70 - Charity donation $250 NFC: - Winner of each quarter - $125 - Charity donation $500 If you would like to make an outright donation to support the cause, you can donate to the following link (cumulative fundraising page): https://gofund.me/4610a46d Any form of support, whether it be via donation, repost, or other form of sharing, is helpful and will help each of these organizations make a positive impact on the world. I appreciate all the support and wish you all good luck this weekend in football squares! -Noah
