Still Thinking of Entering? There's Still Time! There is still plenty of time to submit a knockout entry into the 2024 Event Awards. Past entrants have reported needing only a couple of hours to pull together their entry...don't forget - you've already done all the thinking, designed and delivered the event or achievement - all you have to do is put it into words and tell us about it! With the new, simplified entry form, with a maximum of 2,600 words, it's easier than ever to enter. Tell the Judges about you event or achievement, what did you achieve, what were the complexities, how was it creative and an asset to the industry, what were your challenges? If you start today, that's only 434 words a day to get to the finish line! https://lnkd.in/g8P-s-NG

I decided to hand out my own highly informal yet amazingly prestigious awards at the Canadian Research Insights Council (CRIC) awards gala on Wednesday and now I'm announcing three more! (You get to do whatever you want when someone hands you a microphone. :) - Best insights award: To Kelly Becker who finally made it possible to speak directly to dogs and deeply understand their needs and emotions. - Best parallel study award: To Margaret Chapman and Steve Male for openly sharing a direct comparison of AI vs human analyses. I've been waiting so long for someone to prove they care about validity! - Best audience participation award: To Lisa Wright and Vijay Wadhawan for getting so many people in the audience talking about removing barriers and fostering diversity and inclusion in our industry Congratulations! #MRX #Insights #MarketResearch #MarketingResearch #CustomerInsight #ConsumerInsight #QuantitativeResearch #QualitativeResearch #CAIP #CRIC #CanadaCAIP #CanadaPAIM #CaipPaim
What a great awards gala we had last night at the Canadian Research Insights Council (CRIC)’s H*Factor conference! In addition to the traditional awards and honours, I stole time on stage to give out my own informal yet highly esteemed awards. Here they are in order from most tasty to most awkward: - Best giveaway: Canadian Viewpoint with their on-site, randomized ice cream bar taste test (yum!) - Best acronym: Paul Acerbi with VCCRDMSGSD - Don’t ask me what it stands for! - Best word: Jeff Hecker, MBA, CAIP with the word fleshy. We managed to say that word on stage numerous times afterwards, all in the most strange ways :) My heartiest congratulations to each of you! Let’s go and have another awesome day of insights!

Marketing and brand strategist | Crafting legacies through memoirs and marketing | Memoir Writing Workshops Coming 2025
What's stopping you from entering your event or your company for an award this season? You worked hard to produce a fantastic event. Now it’s time to get the recognition you deserve; you are ready to enter either the ACE Awards, which are more geared towards caterers, or the Gala Awards, which feature categories for all types of events and producers. Winning an award, and even receiving a nomination, has myriad benefits: * Build team morale within your company and with your creative partners * A nomination and win are tantamount to a third-party endorsement * The write-ups can be repurposed for content for months to come * It looks great in all your promotional material But, for some reason, the deadline comes and goes and so does another year for your chance to win an award. Why? As someone who has written, and judged, many awards over the years, I've addressed some common questions and concerns you might have have about entering awards in this article published today in Catersource. https://lnkd.in/gZP8NZfQ #awards #benefitsofawards #eventprofs

Many award organizers are losing credibility because they don't know what they're doing. This problem is becoming more common. One big issue is how they categorize people. It's confusing when someone with over 20 years of experience is labeled as "fast rising" while someone with less than five years in the industry is called the "best." This approach ignores the achievements of seasoned professionals and gives awards to less experienced individuals. It's also disrespectful to place industry legends in the same category as their mentees. This diminishes the value of the legends' contributions. Such decisions show that organizers often don't understand the fields they are trying to honor. These mistakes usually happen because organizers have selfish motives and don't care enough about the industries. They create categories they don't understand, just to make their event seem bigger. This leads to undeserved awards and disappointment among audiences and professionals. Award organizers should aim for higher standards. They don't need to include categories they know nothing about. Instead, they should focus on areas where they can truly assess and honor talent. This would help restore their credibility and ensure that deserving people get recognized. In short, many award organizers are hurting their own reputation by making poor decisions. To regain trust, they need to categorize correctly, make informed choices, and genuinely appreciate the fields they aim to celebrate.

A lot of nominations went out today (check all inboxes, including junk), so I thought it would be a good time to outline the process for those who may not be 100% clear. Nominations close on 13th October. You can nominate yourself or someone else, and all nominations are anonymous. Nominate here: https://lnkd.in/gb8YWA7p If you wish to proceed to the next round and be considered for an award, you'll need to apply via this link: https://lnkd.in/e77EgtEf, select your category, and answer all five questions. Each question is worth 20 points, so it's important not to leave any unanswered. Finalists will be announced before 13th November. If you're nominated, there's no obligation to proceed. In the past, some people have informed us that they don’t wish to participate, and that’s entirely their choice. However, we will still notify them of the nomination because we believe it's special that someone took the time to recognise them. We want to acknowledge not just the nominee but also the person who made the effort to nominate them. So, everyone who is nominated will be informed, but only those who complete the full application will be eligible to win. If you're unable to attend the gala, you can arrange for a representative or someone already attending to accept the award on your behalf if you're announced as the winner. Please note, we won’t be able to post out awards. Finally, tickets are selling fast! The early bird rate is available for anyone booking before 1st October. Grab your tickets here: https://lnkd.in/gfEeYuvd - It's always a sell-out event and an absolutely fun-filled night!

In competitive markets, clients can see us as technically alike, so how do we differentiate ourselves, how do we help people trust us, how do we show up at our best? An ex actor and now executive coach and facilitator, I shared 3 simple skills through interactive activities and games (because we learn best by doing!) at Successo Network’s 1st birthday, on how to create impact, how to make your message stick and how to build trust. 🙂 First impressions count so set a positive mindset. This is the one that works for me, ‘what would it be like when everything goes well?’ 🎹 Music, words & dance - use open gestures and open body language (dance), purpose in the words you choose (words) and passion in how you say them (music). ✅ Structure - a hook (a question, statistic or surprise work well), the power of 3 (reduce your message to 3 things, less is more) and tell us a story, because we all connect when struggle transforms to success! #positivemindset #musicwordsdance #storytelling
Thank you so much to those who joined us for our one year of Successo celebrations last night! We'd like to say a huge thank you to Ben Nathan from Luft Coaching for an incredibly engaging session on "It's not what you say, it's how you say it". The feedback from last nights event has been amazing and we're so grateful to be able to work with great speakers and put these events on. A big thank you again to TCNUK Newark Works for hosting us and to University of Bath School of Management Help to Grow programme for sponsoring our event. We'll see you on the 28th of November for our Christmas party 🎉
