Last week in Berlin, over 150 experts in construction, planning, waterway management, and science convened for the "Dialogue for Accelerating Construction Projects on Federal Waterways," an event hosted by the Minister of Digital and Transport in Germany, Dr. Volker Wissing. A keynote was given on the Leading with Obeya method. The event, organized by the German Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport, focused on accelerating projects around federal waterways. Construction projects on federal waterways are characterized by technically and organizationally complex construction processes. The forward-looking management of these represents a challenge for all project participants. Discussions included experiences with the charter for cooperation on construction sites, further approaches to partnership-based cooperation, and new processes. Accelerating these projects is crucial for growth, prosperity, and climate protection in Germany. 🇩🇪 #Waterways #ClimateProtection The dialogue provided a fantastic platform to explore the #LeadingWithObeya method. This method enhances collaboration and transparency in project management and is highly relevant to the challenges within the development of German water infrastructure. The current need for more effective planning and execution methods makes this particularly pertinent. A key topic of conversation was how flexibility and the ability to tackle unexpected challenges, along with a structured, team-oriented approach, provide hope for navigating through complex construction challenges, involving all partners from the start of such initiatives. Leading with Obeya, with its focus on continuous improvement and collaboration, is ideally equipped to meet these objectives. Sven Dill, a partner in Belgium and Germany, provided valuable insights through an inspiring presentation, highlighting the importance of collaboration and transparency for the success of complex projects. Tim Wiegel, the founder of Leading with Obeya, illustrated (on screen) what an effective Obeya setup looks like, further emphasizing the method's potential. The future outlook centers on how insights from a method like Leading with Obeya can accelerate the development of Germany's mobility, with strong and modern waterways as the foundation. Collaboratively, the aim is to build a better world through better leadership. Want to learn more about the method and attend events with insightful speakers to learn from other LWO practitioners? Happy 19th Anniversary, Marino World! Congratulations to your successful forum about Digitalization & Decarbonization in Shipping. Thank you for sparing time to raise my question to the panelists. Here is the full text of my questions: "Just transition is about filling the gap in education and training for the adaption of decarbonazation and digitalization. But, according to David Taylor of Lloyd's Maritime Academy, 70% of what we learn is based on non-structure sources such as observing how to do a task. 20% is informal yet structured. And 10% of what we learned is based on formal structure. Formal structure courses are very important in filling the gap in education and training for seafarers, but we can not disregard that organic non-structure sources have a key role to play in adapting this innovation. One of the challenges I also noticed is that there are companies that only employed specific nationalities in managing their ships. Ships that are equipped with modern engines and equipment. How would this transition be equitable and inclusive if companies were so selective, even in support level, in recruiting seafarers? 🤔 How could we, the seafarers, adapt to this innovation if the opportunity to learn and to experience firsthand is only limited to specific nationalities? 🤔"
