All edTech companies should hire former educators! Schools don't run like typical businesses, and that's where teachers and admins bring something special to the table. Current educators trust someone who’s been in the trenches, who knows the challenges of the school day, and who can speak their language. We understand the dynamics of a school day, the challenges administrators face, and how decisions impact both students and staff. Honestly, all companies should hire former educators, especially in sales + CS roles. Teachers break down complex ideas, adapt on the fly, and connect with diverse audiences-- all skills that are transferable. Whether it’s navigating a tough sales call or supporting a school in their journey, teachers bring empathy, resilience, and a unique perspective. #truth Sure- in an ideal world you hand-pick every member of your team and they’re all unicorns, but that’s usually not the case. You often inherit people, or someone over your head makes a bizarre call… then you just got to deal with whoever you’ve got. Over the course of a teaching career, teachers serve individual, unique, students into the thousands (in my case, through various tech products, millions) Teachers must know how to unlock potential in every single unique student. So teachers, as a result, learn to see potential in everyone they meet. Teachers know how to onboard teams at scale, lead with empathy and everything else Britt says below. 💕
