As our intern spotlight series continues, we’re excited to introduce Lauren Spallone, an incoming senior studying marketing and analytics at Bloomsburg University. This summer, Lauren is interning with our Investor Relations team, bringing a unique blend of creativity and analytical expertise to our projects. Read on below to learn more about Lauren. 1. What is the best piece of professional advice you have ever received? The best piece of professional advice I have received is to be well-rounded in all aspects of a company. Knowing how a company works from all positions gives you a more comprehensive understanding and knowledge of how to succeed professionally. This is why I chose to pursue a marketing analytics degree to understand the creative and analytical side of marketing. 2. Can you recall a specific project or accomplishment that you're particularly proud of? What was your role in making it successful? In 2022, I was selected to represent Bloomsburg University in an International Business competition held in San Diego. Our team was tasked with developing a global expansion strategy for a business in 24 hours. Through this experience, I learned how to work under pressure, collaborate with team members, and present in front of a big audience. To this day I still use the skills I learned to approach challenges with confidence and navigate projects with colleagues. 3. If you could share some advice with your younger self, what would it be? I would tell my younger self to live in the moment and not worry about the future. It is easy to lose sight of the present when you focus on what the future will bring. I would reassure my younger self that as long as she works hard and stays positive, her future will work out the way she wants. 4. What is at the top of your bucket list? At the moment, I’m most passionate about backpacking through Southeast Asia for a couple of months. Exploring different cultures, meeting new people, and immersing myself in local experiences are why I find traveling so enriching. 5. If you could try something knowing you would not fail, what would it be? Knowing I would not fail, I would dedicate myself to learning as many languages as possible. Communicating fluently in different languages opens up the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in someone’s culture. #CenterSquare #SummerInternship #Spotlight

I have posted a lot of content to raise awareness about the #internshipshortage that is really affecting our university students. I am proud that pigybak is bringing on our first interns for the summer to support their growth and development while also expanding our team's capacity, something that is very needed! Please join me in welcoming... Zeel Modi - Business Development Intern, Cleveland State Isaiah L. - Product Management Intern, Cleveland State Madison Kellier - Marketing Intern, Case Western With their diverse backgrounds and energy, I am excited for the impact they will be making in our small but mighty organization. We will be officially onboarding next week with an all hands call and locking in our schedules. Special thanks to the Greater Cleveland Partnership for their internship program which involves funding founders like me. In addition, thank you to LaunchNET Baldwin Wallace University, SeaChange, and the Burton D. Morgan Foundation for the award of a follow on grant which will make sure to provide our interns with the resources to make an impact! Some quick tips for onboarding interns from back when I lead the Co-Op program at Philips: -Understand what each individual would like to get out of the program. It may not be the exact role and responsibility you had in mind, so be flexible. For example, Zeel will also be supporting me in my financial model development. 1. Set clear roles and responsibilities ahead along with deliverables. RACI charts are gold 2. Set a meeting cadence and communication plan to support them 3. Just from a house keeping point of view, have offer letters, NDAs, and an onboarding document that outlines key resources and systems they'll need. Have you supported summer interns in the past? What are your best tips? #startuplife #founder

I recently brought my 18-year-old son on board as an intern at the agency. As he navigates his path post-school, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to tap into that authentic Gen Z voice we need to connect with our ever-evolving online audience. Let me tell you, this kid has an incredible knack for reading the digital room. I gave him a brief with minimal background—just the directive to speak to his generation. The insights he’s returned with have completely blown me away. It’s not just that they’re fresh; they’re remarkably well thought out. He’s approached everything from a psychological perspective, breaking down ideas in one email (that started with “hey fam”) that I spent 80+ slides trying to convey to our client! So, what’s the takeaway? Listen to the kids. Seriously. It doesn’t matter how many years of experience you have; effectively reaching your target generation means understanding and engaging with them directly. I’m really hoping he falls in love with marketing because he definitely has a talent for it. And yes, he’s getting paid—no unpaid internships here! 💰 #GenZ #Marketing #ListenToTheYouth #FamilyInBusiness

It was 4 am… …and the next thing I knew, I was talking live on the radio. This experience taught me so much as a 19-year-old (13 years ago! 🫢). My first internship was at a radio station in Raleigh, NC. As a communication major at #NCState, this internship was a big deal. I was SO excited and saw it as the opportunity of a lifetime. I was at the station before 4 am each morning to gather information for my boss, who was an on-air host. I even had the opportunity to host my own segment called “Morgan Moments,” where I talked about weird and interesting news. Here are a few things that I learned as an intern: 💡 Perseverance - My boss wasn’t advertising the internship. I actually reached out to her a semester before to see if she needed an intern, but it was a little too late. I followed up months later and secured the internship ✅ 💡 Leave Your Comfort Zone - I love talking to people but am more of an introvert. Talking on the radio made me nervous, but it was a cool experience that I really enjoyed. If I had stayed in my comfort zone, I would have never had the opportunity. 💡 Harness the Opportunity - I worked with my boss to create my own on-air segment. Talking on the radio was so cool at the time (and still is!) and was a great way for me to escape my comfort zone. I took advantage of the opportunity I had and made the most of it. What was your first internship or job experience like and what did it teach you?
