We are thrilled to share that our very own, Michelle Forlenza from PepsiCo has been recognized for the Emerging Leader Award by NextUp. This award is presented to an exceptional individual who has been a member with less than 2 years of involvement with NextUp. Michelle Forlenza leads her team with the same qualities that are key in the NextUp Mission, she creates an environment where people appreciate and support each other. She leads from the front and has championed many of Cincinnati’s successful events such as the first summer intern event where 50+ interns gather across 10+ CPG companies, led in the executive planning for Cincinnati’s major premier events. Lastly, she engaged with Rebecca Minkoff to lock in the region’s 2024 keynote speaker. She has been actively involved while also elevating her career. She was recently promoted to Director of Frito Lay while successfully planning her wedding and was married just this past April. We are so happy to celebrate and honor Michelle at summit this week! The Courage Award was created to honor Kristine Pettoni who embodied courageous leadership demonstrating resilience and vulnerability and set a high standard of accomplishment as she always found time to mentor, lead, and raise others during her battle with cancer. Our very own, Elise Keeler, has been honored with the Courage Award at summit today. In the last 5 years, Elise has experienced severe trauma, as a survivor of sexual assault coupled with grief & was forced to say goodbye to many loved ones before their time, including her father who took his life. To this point, Elise experienced her fight with mental health as she battled with attempts at taking her own life. Through much resilience and tenacity, Elise rose above with her mother's and close friends' support and love. She grounded herself in wanting to bring change and provide awareness for those struggling with mental health as she and her father had experienced. This year, she raised $13,000 for an overnight 18-mile walk that she completed with her mother for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention this year. While going through these heartbreaking and life-altering moments, she continued to show up at work and within NextUp Cincinnati’s board as a strong female leader and mentor. We are so proud of Elise and her bravery over the past years as she represents true pivotal courage. Congratulations, Elise Keeler, and thank you for your leadership! NextUp Elise Keeler

The Cincinnati Region was recognized for the “Powering the Purpose” award at Summit this week. This award is presented to the region that has achieved all-around engagement and participation while engaging in Ambassadors to grow the region’s influence. We were recognized for strategically building our programs around female new hires and females in the middle rungs of their careers to improve & provide meaningful connection, leadership development, and skill development for our members. The strategy was to introduce them to NextUp and connect our sponsors with internship programs & networking opportunities during their development.
