An Executor Should Obtain a Credit Report on the Person who Passed Away and Also Freeze the Accounts: How do I obtain a credit report for a deceased person: The spouse or executor of the estate may request the deceased person's credit report by mailing a request to each of the credit reporting companies. Send a letter along with the following information about the deceased: ✅ Legal Name ✅ Social Security Number ✅ Date of Birth ✅ Date of Death ✅ Last known address ✅ A copy of the death certificate of Letters of Testamentary. A Letter of Testamentary is a document issued by a court or public official authorizing the executor of a will to take control of a deceased person’s estate. Also send information about yourself, including: 🔵 Your Full Name 🔵 Address for sending final confirmation 🔵 In case of an executor, include the court order or other document showing an executor Send the request and information to all three credit reporting companies by mail: ➡️ Equifax, P.O. Tycko & Zavareei Files Suit to Stop Systemic Racial Discrimination at Navy Federal Credit Union | Civil rights attorneys Hassan Zavareei, Andrea Gold, Wes Griffith, Peter Silva, Shana Khader, and Cort Carlson of Tycko & Zavareei LLP have joined forces with DiCello Levitt LLP and Ben Crump Law, PLLC to stop these unlawful practices. As Peter Silva explained at today's press conference, "This case also involves what is called Home Mortgage Disclosure Act data. This is a little known statute that was passed in 1975 and the purpose of this statute was to require lenders that were lending to home buyers to record and disclose data such as their race and other demographic information. The purpose of this data was to ferret out discrimination in lending. “In many cases, governments seize homes from aging seniors in cognitive decline, or individuals with mental disabilities, often based on relatively small amounts of tax debt, leaving the homeowner destitute.” Last May, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled #HomeEquityTheft – an unethical practice that allows the government to take more than what it is owed in property taxes in the instance of a foreclosure – to be unconstitutional.  But several states, including California, have failed to comply with the decision by continuing to allow some form of home equity theft. Fortunately, state legislators have an opportunity to close this loophole and protect property owners throughout the Golden State.
