Scrolling through any social media feed noticing the overflow of so many great pieces of design, only to realize... there just aren't that many women behind them? As the head of the Creative Unit at Lemoni Lab, I see this all the time.  Women can bring fresh perspectives, a user-centric focus, and a natural empathy to the table – all key ingredients for creating truly impactful designs. Yet, we still see challenges like unconscious bias and a lack of female role models at the top, and to name a few Vera Cherfane, Samar Sadik, Kate Wisthof, Diana Alkhatib, Ankita Solapurkar, and Hanaa Emad Ghobrial But guess what? That's changing, and fast! More women are pushing boundaries, leading design teams, and inspiring the next generation. It's exciting to see! There's a growing focus on diversity and inclusion in design. Companies are finally realizing the magic that happens when you have a variety of perspectives together. There are more resources and communities for women in design than ever before.  But, let's be honest: the gender gap is still real. Sometimes, our ideas might not get the same weight, or we might be underestimated. But hey, that just fuels our fire, right? Speak up, own your voice, and showcase your talent. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there – the design world needs your unique perspective! I see a future where design teams are truly balanced, with women leading the charge on groundbreaking projects. Episode 64: In the dynamic world of design, diversity is not just a desirable attribute; it is a critical necessity. As we navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected global landscape, the importance of incorporating diverse perspectives into the design process becomes ever more apparent. Men and women, by virtue of their unique experiences, biological differences, and societal roles, bring distinct needs and insights to the table. This diversity in thought and approach is essential for creating products, environments, and systems that are truly inclusive and effective. Despite this, the design industry has long been dominated by men, leading to a lack of consideration for the specific needs of women. To bridge this gap, it is imperative that we actively promote and support the inclusion of more women in design roles. How do you make sure that the products, services and systems that you are creating will also work for women? It turns out that traditional approaches often create solutions that forget about women. Mansi Gupta at Unconform released an open-source toolkit today that supports design and impact practitioners to build products, services and systems that center & serve women. This is backed by years of research and 80+ contributors. I am grateful to have collaborated with Mansi to make the framework actionable in my field of product management.
