This year, the Spurs Community Leadership Institute focused on critical women's issues. We partnered with Self Financial, Inc. and joined forces with 30 exceptional women across San Antonio, Austin & South Texas to create a ripple effect of leadership, support, and tangible impact.
Well, I think, I mean I think the most important thing is that we're all connected now. My background is in PBS. I work for the the South Central Texas PBS station KLRN and one of the things that I heard even before I worked for PBS growing up was for Mr. Rogers, Meet the Helpers. And that is certainly what this group of ladies is, not just helping people at their own in their own respective workspaces, but really being a community and showing up for each other. I know a lot of us are are still continuing to connect. Outside of the the Leadership Institute and figure out ways that we can collaborate and I really think that you you know it takes each of us to make a difference. And after this program is over, I the connection and the camaraderie that we built together, I truly feel like we're going to keep collaborating and finding ways that we can be creative and highlight each other's work in order to serve the different populations that we work with. Yeah, I definitely agree with that. I think one of the things that was really impactful during that first meeting. They're both cohorts were together. We're impacting people all the way from when they are little children and are just coming into this world all the way through, you know, their teenage years, their years in education and even afterwards, right when they are adults and have other responsibilities and even when they are aging and have medical things that they need attention for and stuff like that. But I think that really goes to what Lord is saying, like we definitely have been having those connections and trying to have. Conversations outside of just the institute so we can collaborate and see what are some other things that we can do to kind of broaden the scope of the things that we're already doing and distracting them. And so like with our little, you know, LinkedIn chat and our group chat that we started, like people are already sharing, like hey, we have this event going, can y'all show out. Hey, we'd love to partner with y'all. And so I think that's been really cool to see even if someone is maybe a little bit further removed. Also inspired me to that when we, you know, get to the retreat and we're back in person. With all the folks that I've also wanted to make sure to like start that process where folks are in the Austin area as well, the way I feel is exactly what we just did. I think that it was so amazing how we all came together, how SLI was able to handpick us. It's so amazing how we have so many different women that do this, so many amazing and phenomenal things, right? And it didn't even know them. They also share that same passion that not only just broaden your horizon, that also helps you to understand a different culture of people. When you're working in nonprofit and it just it's so important that you support each other, you know how dynamic that is, where you can have a friend that you can learn from. It doesn't teach you bad things like. Like. Teaching good things, you know, and they teach you how to develop yourself, develop your mind, develop your heart. And I feel like going forward, I have so many new friends, you know, that I could be able to talk, to get advice from, you know, I don't think this partnership will ever go away because now we've created a family.

I cannot speak highly enough about the great program that the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce puts on every year.
Being a young(er) leader in an organization, especially one that oversees higher-level employees, can be challenging in ways you may not initially realize. Building camaraderie and professional relationships with a smaller and smaller number of peers as you move up the chain can be isolating.
The Community Leadership Insitute (CLI) can provide young leaders with the peer-to-peer guidance, professional relationships, and frankly friendships that are so critical to the growth of young leaders in Central Mass.
For a region that is often times overlooked, NCMCoC is doing their part to prepare the next cohort of true economic and community leaders.

Excited to lend my experience to the National Small Business Association and advocate for small businesses to our federal delegation, particularly around the rising cost of healthcare 🏥
Stomping Ground Strategies is proud to fully cover the cost of healthcare for our employees, but most small (and large) businesses don't. We spend roughly one-third of our lives at work (and another third thinking about work 🙃 ), and that takes a toll on everyone's mental and physical wellbeing. The LEAST employers can do is pay for healthcare.
But make no mistake, it's expensive and most small businesses can't afford it. Small businesses make up 43.5% of the U.S.'s GDP. We're economic drivers, and as such, we should be able to support our workforce and their health, so they in turn can keep our economy healthy & strong.

According to ArtsFund's 2023 Annual Report, 21.8% of BLT participants reported no previous board experience and 71.8% reported some board leadership experience. In 2023, BLT faculty facilitated curriculum like Racial Equity in Board Practices, Strategic Planning, and Legal Practices in Nonprofit Governance.
