Globally, seven billion tons of plastic waste has been generated, with only 10% recycled. The ocean bears the burden of 5.25 trillion plastic pieces, weighing around 200 million metric tons, and an additional 11 million metric tons added annually, impacting nearly 700 oceanic species. With a shared responsibility, consumers, companies, and governments must act to reduce plastic output. As global values evolve, corporate supply must align, leading companies to prioritize sustainability to meet ethical demands, reduce carbon footprints, and contribute to a circular economy. SQA is proud to support companies like Estee Lauder in their long-term sustainability goals, focusing on areas such as packaging, material sourcing, energy, emissions, and carbon-neutral shipping, all while maintaining product quality.

With our Circularity Roadmap for plastic packaging, we want to contribute to a zero-waste society and accelerate the reduction of fossil-based plastic. Our goals and milestones are: ▶️ Overcome the peak of plastic use by 2030 and recycle 50% of plastic used by weight. ▶️ Plastic Packaging Net Zero Waste by 2040, where the amount of plastic used in our packaging and the amount of recycled material used or collected by us is equal. ▶️ Plastic Packaging Negative Waste by 2050, where the quantity of plastic recycled is greater than the plastic packaging produced. To support these goals, we are working to make packaging smaller, increase package capacity and product concentration, promote reuse by offering refill and replacement products, replace fossil-derived raw materials with sustainable alternatives and promote recycling to recirculate used plastic packaging. #EarthMonth #Sustainability #PlasticReduction #MakingLifeBeautiful

Conquering the U.S. Plastic Recycling Goal by 2025! Only about 10% of solid waste in the U.S. is recycled, but we have a plan to change that! According to the EPA, in 2015, only 9.1% of solid plastic materials were recycled. The Journey to 2025 by the American Plastics Association: 1. Eliminate Unnecessary Products: We've identified a list of unnecessary plastic packaging and products in 2021. In 2022, we'll implement plans to remove these items from the market. 2. Reuse and Recycle 100% of Plastic Packaging: Committing to 100% plastic packaging being reused, recycled, or biologically decomposed by 2025. Let's collectively reduce plastic waste and transition to a sustainable lifestyle! 3. Efficient Recycling Target: Aiming to recycle or process 50% of plastic packaging by 2025. Collaboration is the key! Let's work together to provide innovative solutions. 4. Use of Bio-Based Materials: By 2025, at least 30% of recycled or bio-based materials will be used to produce plastic packaging. You can be part of this change! We Need Your Support: Invest in new mechanisms and technologies to optimize the recycling process. Join programs and events to enhance awareness and knowledge of plastic recycling. Share this message with friends and family to create a supportive community! Take Action Now to Build a More Sustainable Future Together! #PlasticRecycling #Sustainability #CircularEconomy

Eco-Tech Entrepreneur & Quality Builder | Founder of RockSolid Design and Construction | Driving Innovation in Sustainable and Economically Viable Living Solutions
I recently read an insightful article in New Scientist about the transformative potential of advanced recycling technologies. Initially, I was skeptical about recycled plastics, feeling it perpetuates the existing plastic industry. However, these new methods could revolutionize plastic use by converting any type of waste plastic into new plastic repeatedly, promoting a circular economy and significantly reducing environmental impact. The article notes, “The goal is to create a circular economy for this material where there is no longer any need to make virgin plastic from crude oil.” For more details, check out the article here. https://lnkd.in/dHgbYbbr

We live in a fast-paced world that needs sustainable solutions right now, not just in the future! And one of the challenges we face is how to process recycled plastic. Because processing recycled plastic is not as easy as it sounds. The quality of the material changes with each recycling process. That's why we at Herrmann conducted a thorough study to find out if we can reliably weld pure recyclate together. And we have some great news to share! Our studies have shown that we can successfully weld recycled plastic using ultrasonic technology. And the best part is, the connections we make with pure recycled plastic are just as strong as those with regular plastic. This might seem like a small step towards achieving a fully functioning circular economy, but it's a crucial step in the right direction. We hope you'll join us on this journey! #ultrasonicexcitement #sustainability #bondingmorethanmaterials #SustainableSummer #summer

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰? ♻️ When plastic bottles are recycled, they undergo a process called "reprocessing," where they are transformed into new plastic materials. This process requires much less energy compared to the production of plastic from raw materials, such as petroleum or natural gas. By choosing to use recycled plastic, we can significantly lower energy consumption and promote a more sustainable approach to plastic bottle manufacturing. 🔁🌿 🔋 The energy savings from using recycled plastic extend beyond the manufacturing stage. Transportation and distribution of plastic bottles also require less energy when they are made from recycled material. This holistic energy reduction has a positive impact on our environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. 🌍💚 🌟 So, the next time you reach for a plastic bottle, consider choosing one made from recycled plastic. By supporting the use of recycled materials, we can actively contribute to energy conservation and the reduction of our carbon footprint. Every small choice we make adds up to significant positive change for our planet. www.bandmwaste.com | 0330 1234 100 | info@bandmwaste.com #RecycledPlastic #EnergyConservation #SustainableLiving #ReduceReuseRecycle #PlasticBottle #EnvironmentalImpact #GoGreen #RecyclingMatters

Did you know that Paula's Choice has more than 20 products on the market with packaging made with post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials? 10 of these are more than 50% #PCR! Why is using PCR important? 🗑️ Reduces plastic waste: Using post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic helps cut down on the amount of plastic waste that ends up in landfills & oceans, as it reuses existing materials instead of relying on new plastic production. 🌱 Conserves natural resources: Using recycled plastic reduces the need for non-renewable resources, such as petroleum, compared to producing new plastic. 🔋 Lowers greenhouse gas emissions: Producing recycled plastic generally requires less energy & emits fewer greenhouse gases than manufacturing new plastic. ♻️ Supports a circular economy: Incorporating recycled plastic is a key part of the circular economy, where materials are reused for as long as possible, minimizing waste & the need for new resources.

141 million tons. That’s how much #plastic created by consumer goods producers. Tons and tons of plastic is used to package products before they hit the shelves. Sadly, only 9% of this gets #recycled as per the Circularity Gap report. ♻️ It's tough dealing with all this plastic waste. Which makes our environmental issues harder to fix. Funny enough, I was working on a project to use recyclable plastic for our #packaging. I asked myself: Why bother with packaging if most of it ends up in landfills? 🤔 So, I talked to a sustainability expert. She agreed: ➡️ Without recycling infrastructure, the material will end up in a landfill. ➡️ Few governments are willing or able to invest in recycling. It’s a tough spot to be in. But she also told me: Every company has a responsibility to act. This can also influence policy changes. Here are two big things I learnt: 📚 1️⃣ Addressing the entire life cycle of packaging requires #collaboration. The strategy should include steps to finish the cycle. This could mean starting projects to collect waste and working with partners. It also means figuring out if recycling makes sense economically. 2️⃣ Without changing #systems, progress will not continue. Clear rules are important for making plastic more sustainable. We need global rules to cut plastic waste and set product design standards to turn trash into value. These steps can help more people use #recyclable packaging and solve environmental problems. And can also create thousands of jobs in the #plasticwaste industry, which helps society. 🌱 --- Do you agree? #Recyclingsystems #circulareconomy #sustainability #supplychain #plasticwaste

During Plastic Free July we must take time to reflect and consider packaging alternatives. As we enter Plastic Free July, a worldwide campaign calling for a world free of plastic waste, both brands and consumers must consider what they need to do to work towards a more environmentally friendly future. More than 400 million tonnes of plastic are produced every year, half of which is designed to be used only once. Recycling follows collection and a separate collection for plastic packaging is as crucial as a separate collection for fibre-based packaging.
