In a proactive effort to combat plastic pollution, the students of SRS Global School in Meerut participated in a "Say No to Plastic" activity during their summer break. This initiative was organized to coincide with *World Environment Day* and was conducted through online sessions, allowing students to engage in meaningful environmental advocacy from the safety of their homes. Teachers conducted interactive webinars explaining the impact of plastic pollution on marine life, wildlife, and human health. Students learned about the lifecycle of plastic, from production to disposal, and the challenges of managing plastic waste. Students were encouraged to create posters, videos, and presentations highlighting the hazards of plastic use and promoting alternatives like cloth bags, biodegradable materials, and reusable containers. These creative projects were shared in virtual classrooms, fostering a spirit of collaboration and creativity. By sharing their projects and pledges on social media, students extended the reach of the campaign, influencing their peers and the wider community to consider the impact of their plastic use. #SRSGlobalSchool #AdmissionOpen #SchoolAdmission #LearningJourney #EducationAdventure #EnrollNow #FutureLeaders"#SchoolAdmission #NewBeginnings #EducationAdventure #EnrollNow #FutureLeaders #LearningCommunity #QualityEducation #EmpoweringMinds #ExploreLearnGrow #StudentLife #AcademicExcellence #BackToSchool #LearningPath #NextGeneration #EducationMatters #UnlockingPotential

Celebrating "Independence Day" leading to #PlasticSlavery! My Daughter came from school yesterday after Independence Day Celebrations ! I remember my time when we use to get Boondi Laddoos in school which is now been replaced by Plastic Wrapped Chocolate and Tetra Packed Preservative Added Juice. I was thinking on the impact of replacement of Traditional Sweet to Plastic Packaged Preservative added products being distributed in Educational Institutions. Plastic Waste and Pollution: An average school in city has 800-1000 students multiplied by number of schools in city multiplied by number of chocolate wrapper and tetra pak ! Do You Understand the Magnitude of Plastic Waste Generated in a Day, #SCARY ! These plastic #packaging, if not disposed properly will take hundreds of years to decompose, leading to persistent pollution in #landfills and #natural #environments ! Not only waste, it has several impacts across various other domains: Loss of Tradition, Loss of Support to Local Business, Health Impact due to added preservatives, Carbon Footprints due to production and transportation, Natural Resource Depletion etc etc etc.... Please note: I don't have any intention to highlight any brand name from the photograph #awareness #school #community #eductionalinstitutions #wastemanagement #plastic #climatechange Waste Warriors Society

Plastic Rain: A Wake-Up Call for Environmental Action During my recent Environmental awareness session at the University of Cape Coast, students were shocked to learn about a disturbing phenomenon: plastic rain. This isn't a metaphor or an exaggeration—it's a stark reality of our modern world. As we delved into the topic, students learned that microplastics are now ubiquitous in our environment, even in rainwater. These tiny plastic particles, often invisible to the naked eye, are light enough to be carried by wind currents and eventually fall back to Earth in raindrops. The sources of these microplastics are varied, ranging from degraded plastic waste to synthetic fibers shed from our clothing. The implications of this discovery are profound. It means that plastic pollution has penetrated even the most fundamental aspects of our water cycle. As future leaders and citizens, the students were challenged to consider the far-reaching consequences of our reliance on plastic. We discussed three key areas where action is urgently needed 🗝️Reducing plastic consumption: Students brainstormed ways to minimize their use of single-use plastics on campus and in their daily lives. 🗝️Improving waste management systems: We explored how better recycling and disposal methods could help mitigate the spread of microplastics. 🗝️Developing biodegradable alternatives: The potential for innovative, eco-friendly materials to replace conventional plastics was a topic of great interest. The session concluded with a sobering thought: we are literally making it rain plastic. This realization sparked a lively discussion about personal responsibility and collective action. Students shared their ideas for reducing their plastic footprint, from using reusable water bottles to supporting local initiatives for beach cleanups. As educators and students at the University of Cape Coast, we recognized our unique position to drive change. By raising awareness and taking concrete steps to reduce plastic use, we can contribute to a healthier planet and a more sustainable future. The phenomenon of plastic rain serves as a powerful reminder that our actions have far-reaching consequences. It's time for all of us, starting right here at the University of Cape Coast, to change our habits and protect our planet and our health. #EndSingleUsePlastic #MarineLife #SDGs Recycle Up! If we're going to kick our plastic habit, starting with young people is an important part of the puzzle. Manufacturers also have a duty but we know that, in general, we respond to consumer demand and choose the best materials for the intended use. So the development of better awareness of how plastic damages the environment coupled with investment in alternatives to virgin polymer can only be good for our planet and future generations. How do we reduce plastic pollution? Maybe there is a giant elephant in the room that we just keep ignoring? I wonder how many of these students are advocates for a society of “zero-plastics”… I know we can also just get rid of all these plastic jugs and replace them with compostable containers. That may be true, but is it any better to litter paper bags everywhere? Be responsible, get yourself educated. That’s what higher education is all about. #plastics #plasticpollution #stoplittering #plasticrecycling News source: https://lnkd.in/eZ6rs9yt
